Yeah, my bad.

I don't think the credit crunch will hit the fests for 2 reasons, the main people going are younger adults/students who have mroe disposeable income anyway.

People like myself, my lady & our friends are doing more festivals this year (and praying for a nice summer) instead of going away as the pound is so weak against the Euro it's cheaper to stay in the UK and take advantage of domestic activities.

They've still got to sell tickets.

I'm not saying those three bands can't headline. I may well be proven wrong about my stance. My rationale is that Reading won't sell out (CERTAINLY not in the first few days) if the initial announcement only appeals to one set of fans. Rage, Killers and Metallica had a lot of appeal to a lot of different people for a lot of different reasons. Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and KoL have even more appeal to some people, but won't persuade a huge percentage of previous year's fans to buy straight away. Which will mean they then have to spend MORE money putting that right in future announcements.

I know my stance on headliners and ticket sales has confused some and slightly annoyed others. But I can speak for everyone in saying that if the festival was nearly (but not quite) going to sell out, and they ended up snapping up tickets that nobody wanted, EVERYONE here (t**ts aside ) would be happy.

As for the question about tout economics, if more people want to go than there are tickets available, there is a market for them. But their margin's going to drop, as there are far fewer people with that much money and that little sense. In turn that makes it more risky to tout, but make no mistake, there'll be the same amount as always.

Oasis Pulp Stereophonics - 2000

You could almost say 2007 - Smashing Pumpkins , Razorlight, RHCP nothing heavy there

R/L doesnt HAVE to have a heavy headliner, or heavy acts. Also anybody who decides not to get a ticket on 3 indie acts when there is 120 acts, and a punk stage, is a bit daft
