Sonisphere opens it's doors on the Thursday, and with bands, freakshows, DJs it is a camping festival all the way.

Sonisphere in Knebworth is all about quality, whether it be the bands on the stage or the campsites. We wouldn't leave you high and dry in the Hertfordshire countryside.

The campsites will be open from thursday with an early bird ticket and we are going to make the campsite a laugh from the start.

We are currently booking bands, DJs, soundsystems, walkabouts, freakshows, finding excellent tattooists, piercers, carnies to scare us all and looking for the best food stalls. There is going to be a Cinema too with our favourite movies on.

After the headliners have played it is all 'back to our house' in the campsites and lets carry on as we mean to go on. The Campsite stage will kick into life and there will be some surprises in what bands we get.

On the friday night, going to have a launch party and BBQ for all the boardies (ok so we don't have board yet, give us a three weeks).

Also we want your ideas: What do you think would be cool in the campsite and festival. If enough of you think one of those rodeo cows? lets track one down.

I wonder how closely if at all Metallica are working with the promoters?

Wouldn't surprise me to see Limp Bizkit on this bill aswell, surely they would want maximum exposure after regrouping? Can't see them being tied to an exclusive contract as i dinnae see them being to high up the bill.

But then you also have to consider the loyalty of the Download community, the money thing because many people going to Download will pay the £110 for a 3 day festival knowing that they have 100 dands to choose form and some of the sub headliners and lower featuring artists look like their gonna be amazing. That against £157 for a 2 day festival with a lot less bands and less history.....

We shall see.

I'm still set on Download. But then I love Slipknot!

These are the same people who have bitched and moaned non stop the past two years over Download's choice of headliner's?The same people who have said the festival ''ain't what it used to be'' and that it's ''turning into a joke''?

Also,less history?

Type in 'Knebworth' & 'rock fetival' into a search engine and read up.Knebworth is the ultimate venue for any rock band in this country with a legacy second to none.

Reading my post back i must also write that this isn't meant as an attack on you  ,just don't know how else to word my response.

Well Neil leaked 12 acts for Download, and with Download having to fight with this maybe all those 12 will get announced, maybe even more

If they just announce a few names then people might think f**k it, I'd expect a big announcement from Download tomorrow

I love the way the website is written.

it sounds like Chris morris to me for some reason  .

"hey, who said aids guys are weak?"

"lets face it Reading & Leeds & Download are all shit! Come to sonisphere where everything is great!"

well I've booked me hotel, the holiday inn in stevenage, was £45 a night for 3 nights - and thats a queen size bed. apparently its 2.5 miles away - no biggie.

dont try the other hotels now, cos they are all part of £900 packages and come up unavailable.

I've decided to kill 3 birds with one stone.

1. I kinda said I wouldnt do Reading.

2. I told the wife I would take her to see Metallica this year.

3. I've always kinda wanted to take her to a festie, and being "hotel'd up" will make it a lot less painful.

I like the fact that the 2 stages are gonna be staggered - so no clashes.

and the website is quite specific that they are aiming for quality - which is a nice reassurance - as long as its not empty promises.

this is obviously right up against download - what with download's site f**kabouts, dodgy lineups and frankly shitty treatment of campers at donington on the whole, going for the same type of bands, aiming for a similar market. I reckon download might be running a bit scared really, possibly blowing their wad with a rather large announcement tonight.

time for a dedicated Sonisphere forum Neil?

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
