How Bad is Springsteen

Never been a big fan but as he's supposed to be Saturday night headliner I thought I'll have a listen. Got a hold of the best of cd and if that's his best then I would hate to hear his worst

Sounded like a cross between Huey Lewis and Meatloaf.

No idea why folks would get worked up at the thought of seeing him but no accounting for individual taste.

Did hear some folks going on about how his shows lasted up to 4 hours, which would be a bloody awful prospect.

Give him the oldies slot on the Sunday afternoon and get Radiohead or Muse to give Glasto some quality on the Saturday

your either being very sarcastic or really spoilling for a fight

he's not my cup of tea either but i prefer to be positive about what i want to see rather than slagging off what is obviously a big draw for many people.

i would suggest you put the tin hat on right about now

I've never been much of a fan, though I do have a soft spot for Nebraska as it's generally quiet and acoustic and understated. I know his lyrics are generally quite decent - when he's in thought-provoking mode, but I can't get beyond the thought that his live shows would be Born In The USA style bombast.

If he were on at Glasto I'd probably take a look out of interest.

How bad is Springsteen? VERY VERY f**kING GOOD ACTUALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, i like him. His last album, Magic, was brilliant!!! I suggest you have a listen, the songs on here would be more suited to Glastonbury i feel.

i can see you rpoint but i dont agree at all with you,

unless yo have seen him live dont write him off...

i have seen the majority of the best live acts around the world and ill always say bruce was the best even though i dont know his music greatly, the man knows how to put on a show, he has no backing group just him and his band for 3-4 hours,,,,trust me give him a chance, i dont care much for his cds but live he is in another league you dont even really get it on youtube

just trust me if he plays go....you will not forget it (in a positive way)

hehehe, I've been waiting for this thread.

I'm not fussed about the headiners at all, and anything would be better than the bastard Verve last year, and frankly, I'd buy a ticket even if Northside were headlining the Pyramid.

So when these springsteen rumours started, I thought that I didn't really know any of his stuff, but you know, it's a big name, fair play and all that, but you know what, after listening to stuff on youtube, he does sound a lot like meatloaf to these ears.

Lots of my mates love him, and it's all cool, glad lots of people are going to enjoy him, but I reckon I'll be elsewhere, well out of earshot. Plenty of other stuff going on, that's the beauty of it all.

anyway, this is probably all going to kick off now, so best leave it...

I have to agree with red day, Springsten's shite in my opinion too. I've not seen him live because I don't like any of his music, don't feel it has any relevance to me whatsoever and I wouldn't be interested in seeing him at Glasto. Each to their own though, theres bound to be something I want to see instead, just like last year with the Kings Of Leon as they sound a bit like Springsteen to me. Must be the over-earnestness.

Pretty simple really, if you dont like him much (like me) go to one of the many other stages. The only headliner at any festival i have ever been to that I have wanted to see was Foo Fighters at Southside/Hurricane 2008 and Killers at Glasto 2007.

Pretty easy really...

I was quite disappointed with the headliner rumour but i'm sure that there will be something else on that i'd enjoy at the same time. I love it when there is a hugely popular act on that I dont really like, cause I can torment the non-festival attendees that love the said headliner by telling them that I had the oppertunity to watch them but did a crossword or something instead.

4 yrs old at a gig ?? Jees that's pretty young.

Anyho, Should we get Radiohead to take their god given spot on the Saturday this year or do we have to go karaoke to Born in the USA. To me this is a no brainer and Eavis squared should be on the blower to Oxford and get Thom Yorke and Co signed up.

No doubt Springy will be demanding show time of about 7pm so he can play a 6 hour set complete with self indulgent guitar solo's and a 50 minute drum solo from whoever plays in his easy street band or whatever they're called

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
