Star Wars

So i was in London on Thurs evening at this charity dinner and it was a star wars event with quiz and auction.

As a little bit of a star wars geek I was in heaven. My favourite picture of the night was when I got Darth Vader to choke me. (His powers are obviously waning as he had to physically do it but it was still cool)

I was running the quiz and the auction, so was a bit of a long night but I had a massive smile on my face all night seeing all the people dressed up. There were about 50 storm troopers there in full get-up. Even better was the full size R2-D2's whizzing around the room. Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Bulloch and Warwick Davis were there with a bunch of other celebs, it was a fun night.

It has got me excited to see episode 1 in 3D at the cinema. I know its episode 1 but I still enjoy going to the big screen to see any star wars. It may look quite cool in 3d too. Anyone else tempted to go and line George Lucas's pockets some more?

Saw Episode 1 in 3D last night.

The 3D adds nothing to the film, which I kinda expected. I don't think 2D-3D conversions work too well, it was a subtle effect mostly, with one or two moments that looked quite good.

The film is still terrible haha! But it was worth it for the opening text crawl, pod racing, the light saber battles and natalie portman on the big screen.

Episode 1 is my favourite of the prequels because Hayden Christensen isn't around to totally ruin it. The second film is a turkey, but the third film might have been ok if this useless lump didn't have to fart his way through every line. Awful, Awful stuff. I will never know why they cast him

Phantom Menace is just a mediocre film that is just a very odd experience to sit through.

Great locations, ropey CG, brilliant music, functional and boring cinematography, dull characters, convoluted plot that lacks any pace.

Goes for all three prequels. There, job done.

That guy's nasally indignant nerd rage makes him sound like a bigger fanboy than the people he's criticising.

I'm off to Legoland in a few weeks for my baby brother's birthday and they are hosting a Star Wars Invasion were the scenes from the flicks are done in lego form and other stuff, should be fun for him but I'm not really a Star Wars fan tho.

    • Hasn't Farage been fighting for 30 years for Britain to leave the world?
    • Lower league football has this more regularly, no? Quite often I'll see League 1/2 sides have signed a whole new 11 every summer.    Admittedly, changing the entire squad is different.
    • Oh yeah I'd forgotten about their mad scramble to get back from LA to Glastonbury. Though at least there you can blame multiple flight cancellations. I do agree though that it's fair to ask why you'd risk a similar sh*t show.
    • So who's got a good rain dance in the locker, then? Now we're in August the weather watchers can come out of hiding.    Already having flashbacks to last year (the dust cloud of doom at the crossroads by the Courtyard entrance).   Also got to be looking sketchy for the fire/fireworks on the Sunday. Might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind it - the fencing annoyance isn't worth the 10 mins of 'oooohhh, aaahhhh', plus the raining of hot embers last year!
