    Glastocam!

Any idea why they've all died? Wonder if The Glade stage moving out of the trees is related to it?
  2. I was on site on the Tuesday in 2019 and it hammered it down with rain that night as me and a few others were in the SE Corner crew bars....luckily that was the last of any rain I saw that weekend!
  3. Funnily enough its the opposite for me....as when me and my gf do 'city breaks' I just identify a couple of things I want to do/see and she then does the 'itinerary' of sights and restaurants and books everything. When we couldn't go abroad during lockdown we went to Cornwall for a week and were in St Ives for a couple of nights and it was heaving everywhere...on the Saturday night we couldn't book a table for dinner, even in Wetherspoons and we decided to try for a walk in or cancellation and still couldn't get anything, resulted in my gf sat on a wall outside Pizza Express rocking back and forth saying 'I can't deal with this, no bookings, no available tables, my itinerary is out of the window' I was just stood with a pint (trying to calm her down) from the nearby pub not bothered by it all, we ended up getting a cab back to near our hotel and going for fish and chips at the local takeaway 😄
  4. We have a couple of whatsapp groups...one for the main group that will be at the festival together (15 of us) , and another one for those of us travelling together(6 of us)....both groups see a bit of action when line ups come out and tickets are on sale etc but outside of that its fairly quiet. My gf has never been to Glastonbury, so telling her that The Glade has moved position is pointless as it goes straight over her head 😄 although she does enjoy watching the coverage either at the time or with me after the event so she can see what I've been watching. Like others have said, I use this forum as an outlet to chit chat about the finer details of the festival rather than banging on about it to uninterested mates!
  5. Once you’ve had fresh and black, you won’t look back.
  6. That would be good for me - I'm away in Spain on a stag do weekend of 10th-12th June so won't be very flush before...looks like the credit card will be coming out to play!
  7. Just looked through old emails and my tickets were dispatched on 2nd June for the 2017 festival....I worked the 2019 one so don't know when they were sent out.
  8. Tickets usually go out in early June.
  9. I get paid two days after we come home from Glastonbury! Argh!
  10. I can recall it raining when we were in the queue at PGC mid-morning and then when we were trying to set up it rained again, one of my friends went off to the toilet mid putting his tent up and it started to rain, by the time he came back 5 mins later there was already a puddle in it, which wasn't a good start to the weekend! 😄
  11. If you see me in there at that time I won't be upright! 😄
  12. ha! We initially ran into the barn then made a run for it to the dance tent...was in there for a while and thought it had stopped...went out to get a beer and use the toilet and in front of me there was a guy spinning out on the floor with powder all over his nose (it turned out to be ketamine) and he kept trying to grab my legs. The ice cream van people nearby got the paramedics...I think he lived to tell the tale! I think shortly before De La Soul came on one of my friends said 'its going to chuck it down' as it went from being very, very hot (even for 9pm at night) to suddenly very cold and before we knew it the heavens had opened.
  13. Yep agreed. I went to Truck Festival that year 19th-22nd July, and we hadn't seen a drop of rain for about three months....all was fine tthen on the Friday night during De La Soul it absolutely chucked it down for a good hour or so....so bad the main stage was pretty much empty as everyone hid in tents....felt sorry for them as they performed to virtually no one!

    Glastocam!

We are now at 6 1/2 weeks until the festival starts so should be full on from now on 🙂
  15. I think after the enforced break from festivals I will defiantly be taking it easier this year. I can't hack the pace like I used to, and end up with horrendous hangovers that render me useless for most of the following day if I stay out till 4-5am. I'll probably go heavy for one or two nights at a push but I'd prefer an early finish one night so I can function the following day, rather than going hard and then dying in my tent till the following afternoon!
  16. In 2017 a friend of mine got his ticket through the post and half of the photo was missing...was like something had gone wrong with downloading the image, stopped halfway but the ticket got signed off as fine and got sent. On the Weds morning at PGC we were going through and the stewards seemed to be aware of it as they shouted 'another one' and my mate wasn't allowed through and had to go to the the portacabin and there were loads of others who had the same problem. Thought he would be through quickly, but got grilled by security for about 20 mins to prove who he was etc, problem is he doesn't drive or even have a provisional and didn't have his passport on him either so they were on the phone to see tickets office in Nottingham (I think) asking him loads of questions, eventually they let him through but it wasn't the best start to the festival!
  17. Haven't you and Mrs Q done over 30? Has she finally had enough?
  18. A few years ago guy from Gloucester moved to Oxford, and now works with one of my friends...he has subsequently become a social friend of ours too....I've been in cabs and on buses when he's said that phrase and the drivers always look a bit bemused!
  19. I think its because people associate 'The Glade' as being within the trees, not outside it.....if you moved (for example) West Holts 200m no one would really care because its the same big open air stage and makes no real difference to the ambiance of the stage. Taking 'The Glade' out of the trees completely changes what that stage is like for many people, even if it is only to where the Spaceport has previously been.
  20. I went in it a fair bit in 2017 as a mate was working on the bar and went and had a dance on the Thurs evening in 2019 to some 90s bangers….it’s not that big and gets very hot as it’s an enclosed venue. Possibly will be better utilised as a covered outdoor stage
  21. Unless something has been moved into the tree area?
