  1. Wasn't there a post on here from somebody involved that said Car Henge was supposed to have a proper stage and lineup but they were running low on time? Or did I make that memory up?
  2. Not to mention the fact that the excess tails these days are black and white with 'VOID' written all over them... I had wondered why they say void all over the tails, but it makes sense now, thanks @Yoghurt on a Stick They obviously got wise to what was happening.
  3. Was genuinely a really tough decision to go to Elton, the only thing that solved the clash and finialised the decision to go to Elton was that we were seeing Rudimental, and Venbee, on the same stage and day at Splendour Festival a few weeks later. That Rudimental set at Splendour is still in my top 5 sets of 4 festivals this year!!! Rubbish weather, tiny festival, but they ALWAYS bring the party, I bet their Glasto set was great fun to be at, regardless of crowd size!!!
  4. He may have gotten into the festival in a rice box, but he would never have gotten on stage / back stage without accreditation surely? Those closing shots show him back of house, would stage security have allowed that without accreditation? Looks to me like he had legit artist accreditation and just pulled this prank to see if he could. Either way though, looks very much like he would have at least gotten on site inside a Giraffe without a ticket if he'd needed to.
  5. Weren't there a few of the bigger / mid sized festivals on the same weekend this year? I wonder if it's something to do with that, suppliers spread too thinly etc etc. It's been noted there were far fewer catering options this year.
  6. Food options weren't great at all. Thankfully I didn't do much eating at all, couple of Mac and Cheese Portions and a couple of breakfast cobs was all I could stomach all weekend. 🙈🤣
  7. Saw Venbee at Splendour a couple of weeks back, just before Rudimental, they were great, and Rudimental bought them out again during their set too.
  8. They'd asked people not to leave Sunday, and stay until 7am Monday for that reason, unfortunately if you don't follow their socials it wasn't well communicated around the arena from what I could see. https://twitter.com/KendalCalling/status/1685792120873922560?s=20
  9. I stumbled upon a Lathams set that wasn't listed, in a tiny venue just outside the far end of the woods. Had never seen them before, didn't realise they were so popular, but can see why, they were very good. I also missed their main sets at both Glasto and Kendal, so pleased I found the surprise set.
  10. It was definitely there, as per the article I posted earlier. (https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/festival-medics-see-rise-breathing-8550329) But yeh, nowhere near as bad as last year. @Franky just reread my original reply in a better mood, and I owe you an apology. Points I made were true but the tone I used was unnecessarily sh*tty. Sorry, there was no need for that, dunno who pissed in my cornflakes that day 😞
  11. Yeh, considering the low that is going to be sitting over us, one and a half centimeters of rain over 4 hours is nothing really... A fine drizzle. I just prey this all holds true now, after getting our hopes up!!!
  12. Netweather are usually good. The only one I've seen that is a complete contrast to this is BBC, and can only get Penrith on there. iphone is showing a couple of pathetically tiny showers, (mostly over night) all weekend, and that is at Lowther Castle. Metoffice is showing around a 30-50% chance of very light showers on Saturday and Sunday. With a 50-60% chance of a moderate shower on Sunday. Metcheck is showing a chance of very light showers Saturday and Sunday, (just 0.2 to 0.5mm) With Thursday (after gates) and Friday being pretty much dry. There's definitely not the apocalyptic forecasts that there were this time last week.
  13. Netweather's forecast for Lowther Castle Thurs - Sunday looks incredible... Beyond what my wildest imaginations were a week ago!!! One tiny shower Thursday... Stick, Stick, Stick... (Edited to add: It should be noted that this is in stark contrast to the BBC forecast, and I'd still expect rain!!! The Iphone weather app pretty much agrees with Netweather though. 🙂 )
  14. Walking boots always... I'd rather avoid particular areas or walk around with wet feet than wear wellies, either way I'm gonna get trench foot!!! Having said that, there is very very little rain currently forecast from Thursday to Monday, a couple of very light showers... Fingers crossed that holds. 🤞

    The 1975

Fair comment and a good point. But unfortunately history is littered with examples that prove people will always get hurt on the way to real change and a better future. It absolutely "shouldn't" be that way, but it most definitely is. 😞

    The 1975

Don't like the lad one bit... But I stand with him here 100%. That's the sort of thing I want to see people with that kind of platform using it for, good for him. Like you, I really hope there is no backlash, but you can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs.
  17. I'm out of the high peaks now, back down in the Derbyshire Dales / south Peak District, and to be fair, we've had a much nicer couple of days than the weather forecasters would have led us to believe. I saw on the Kendal Calling facebook page that they've also had some lovely weather the last day or so. Charts aren't looking fantastic... It's all about that low coming on over Northern Ireland... I'm preying that by some miracle that could be pushed much further North, then we'd be in for a good one, but it's unlikely to happen... Walking boots and waterproofs are packed and ready.
  18. So pretty much the same conclusion I came to then? (If you read the entire post.) They're pretty much paying £35k just to ensure they're only surrounded by the 'elite.' Live in vehicles offer all of the 'important' comforts that this Camp Kerela offers, I'd love to be able to afford to build / buy one, then I'd only ever go in one of them too. 😕
  19. Yeh that's exactly my point... It's no coincidence that local resistance to the festival has waned at the same time as all of these glamping options have increased in popularity.
  20. You f**kers gonna leave us love fieldin' paupers alone now? We paid an extra £250 per person (less than renting a motorhome and going in CVs) and got dragged through hot coals on here. 🙈🤣 Would I if I had the kind of money that makes things like that easy? We try and kid ourselves that people who stay there are 'missing out on so much of the festival.' But let's be honest, they're missing out on all of the sh*t bits, not being able to sleep in an oven of a tent, playing cubicle roulette for a morning poo, stinking like your morning poo for the last few days, carrying your temporary home, it's contents and your beer 29.4 miles, in whatever weather, before having to set it all up, etc etc... f**k yeh, sounds amazing, ferry me in clean and refreshed every morning for a day of fun, safe in the knowledge that at 4, 5 or 6am, I have a nice chariot waiting to take me back to a comfortable bed in which I can get a good night's (or morning's) sleep before showering and doing it all again... Why the hell not? Well here's the counter argument to that... What do they actually get there for the extra 35k that they don't get in a campervan, worthy view or love fields? A lift in? Not really needed... Oxygen chamber? What even is that... A chef? But the food festival side of glasto is one of my favourite bits... The main difference would be the people, in most of the other options, WV, CV or even LF, you still get down to earth, real, people... People who work hard and save to enjoy their biggest week of the year. What kind of people would you find in a place that costs £35k for 4 nights? So yeh, sounds nice, and who doesn't want the comforts, you're kidding yourself if you say you don't, but I think I'll stick to Worthy View, Sticklinch, Camper Vans or Love Fields, where you can get some level of comfort for no more than a caravan holiday in Cornwall...
  21. I specifically made sure we were at that set, and close to the front, for this very reason... Can't see us getting tickets to one of his shows for a while yet, until the hype dies down a bit. (If it dies down any time soon that is.)
  22. We're going to Kendal Calling, hadn't really considered WOMAD, was a tossup between Kendal and Camp Bestival again (though Dorset this time.) Will have to look at WOMAD next year considering all of the glowing recommendations here. Anyway, is there a Kendal Calling Roll Call? That part of the forums is dead, unless you have tickets to sell. 🙈🤣

    Gate C

Gate C was well run, had daunting queues each time I went in or out, I'd see them and think f**k, but they never actually took more than 10 - 15 minutes. Thought the volunteers were brilliant too, worked hard up until the very end, very thorough checks, but very efficient. I went through at some of the peak times mentioned earlier in this thread too, they were the 10 to 15 minute queues, other times we sailed through in less than a minute or two. Even getting back out after the headliner Sunday was much easier than anticipated, had to ask for a pass out to get back in, as they weren't being automatically given out, but was given them with no problems when I asked, and it was all very quick and smooth.
  24. Dust was horrendous at times, especially Friday and Saturday... I don't think it was as dusty as 2022 though, when they inadvertently added an extra source of dust by covering the run between San Remo and the Pyramid with ridiculously dusty white stones. Suppose you also didn't notice the electronic signs giving people tips on how to deal with the dust, or the trucks going out trying to spray the paths with water to keep the dust down? 🤷‍♂️ Suppose the medics were making it up too... https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/festival-medics-see-rise-breathing-8550329
  25. It's more the last week or so that the weather has been horrendous... To be fair, I'm talking High Peaks here, assumiong it's been similar in the Lakes, but I could be wrong.
