I was watching a video about the Universal Studios project potentially coming to Bedford yesterday... This is one of the fields where it will be be built, filmed just this week... How the hell is it so dry that it's cracking already? I think it will be fine, won't take much to dry out the ground.

Would be incredible to get Salt on tap at Glastonbury!!! Even if it were just Jute. Madri is not as nice (or genuine) as Cruz Campo though... Marketing genius, and obviously responsible for bringing us Cruz in the first place. But Cruz is nicer imo. We very nearly went with Coors. Heineken and Coors both produced a great lineup for our bar, Coors probably even more so as it had Salt Jute instead of Neck Oil (personal preference there haha.) But as we're an FOT site, Heineken's package of sweetening extras was much better. Free stock, help with the garden refurb, and a complete cellar refurb and reinstall, so we couldn't turn them down. On the free ticket point, I've had free tickets to Bestival through Thatcher's before, just because we were one of their free of tie sites. 🙂 Madri's success forced Heineken to push their newly acquired Cruz Campo to the UK market as a rival. A genuine top seller in Spain that I personally think is much nicer than Madri. It's now overtaken Birra Moretti as our top selling lager!

Yes, they have a vast range of decent continental beers, there's no doubting that. I don't know what the cask offerings were like last year, it was way too hot for cask... I could be wrong, but I very much doubt jackets alone were maintaining cellar temperature inside marquees in that heat. I tried cask in the Hop & Liquor on the Wednesday in 2022, another warm day, and the condition of it was absolutely shocking. Not their fault, as you'll know well, nothing they can do without a proper cellar in that heat. (They were using what looked like tiered racks and cooling jackets to pour directly from the cask... And it was insanely hot inside the marquees.) I'd definitely take Estrella over Brooklyn as the main premium lager, very good shout that is!

Unless we see a switch to Heineken as PB it won't be Neck Oil. Carlsberg are possibly the worst big brewery for that type of thing, Heineken have Beavertown, Lagunitas and others, even Molson Coors have Salt Beer in their distribution portfolio... (Wouldn't that be nice!) I think Brooklyn was the best Carlsberg could offer last year. We were looking for a new PB ourselves last year, we found that Carlsberg are (or were) very good for continental beers, not so good for American or craft style beers. (To be fair, I'm not currently as up to date with any recent micro acquisitions or distribution deals they've made as I was last year, because we're not looking for a new PB ourselves anymore.)

You're both miles out ahead of me... I think this is 33lb lost, or 15kg so far, In 126 days. For anybody that remembers my original goal... I got on Nemesis Reborn on opening day, and was able to close my own restraint unaided... So happy to report that I achieved my original goal in that sense, even if I was a few lb short of the target weight. Now just to lose as much as possible before Glastonbury, whilst stepping up the fitness. I'm going to have to politely request that this endless rain f*cks off now, so that I can get some wild camping trips done!

Incident raises a very good point... It genuinely is shelter within 5 seconds... It's not an exaggeration, when you know how to use the system, it literally takes seconds. (I also paid £129 for mine on sale 😉 Does anybody ever pay full price for tents? That being said, it would have been worth the full price, since it's had 10+ outings already... £200+ for a tent isn't a lot when you look after them well.) But that isn't the only reason I rate the tent so highly. The fresh and black feature of the tent just seems to work better with this design, compared to the air and pole versions. I love camping, and I'm not averse to pitching a tent, no... But there is a tent for every situation IMO. When I'm wild camping, on the top of High Willhays, then I'll take my ultralight Helium F10. Takes 10 minutes to pitch, but is lightweight and packs smaller than a 2 litre coke bottle... Couple of days wild camping in the Peak district, with an easier hike and I'll take the slightly bigger OEX Rakoon. Family camping with the dogs on a site, I'll take the big 8 man tent, with separate living areas... Takes 30 minutes plus to pitch, is super heavy, but is a great space for the whole family to spend a few days in, regardless of the weather. And festivals, well I want something that is a simple shelter which is super quick to pitch and strike. But, importantly, I want something that allows my sleep off a hangover in the morning... Hence this tent is perfect for the job. You asked... 😉🙈🤣 Edited to add some photos of those tents in action... Oh yeh, it was never 'bad' always incredible. I just think it was a nicer in 2022... (They used much deeper pots in 2022 too 😉)

2022 Crumble shack was definitely much much nicer than the ones I had in 2023... Still nice though, every single time.

Not a pop up as such, and certainly no porch, but these are BY FAR the best festival tents I own (And I weirdly own a lot of tents.) https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/camping-tent-2-seconds-easy-3-p-freshandblack/_/R-p-313048 They take litteral seconds to pitch AND strike, but with much more structural integrity than your average pop up. (Enough to survive the great winds of Kendal Calling last year, with zero damage.) But best of all, they stay cool and dark inside, even in bright direct afternoon sunlight.

That's very cheap for Love Fields, however, Love FIelds do not offer a 3x3M pitch, smallest is 6x6M (as evidenced on the link you posted.) Edited to update: @Shunt messaged me to say that what is on offer is actually half of a 6m x 6m pitch, for up to 2 people.... So 6m x 3m for 2 people. This is is due them booking a pitch for 4 people, with the plan of using 2 tents on one pitch, but now two of them are unable to make it, leaving half the pitch, and 2 wristbands, available. 👍

Yep, I think it's a Boeing 787 Dreamliner... So we may need to check the forward pressure bulkhead, composite strength, panel gaps, vertical tail fin and fuel lines.... Doors 'should' be ok though... 🙈🤣

Due to the lack of camping space, Glastonbury will be introducing 'high rise' camping options for the first time in 2024... (Stole this off a wild camping group I'm a member of on Facebook, but instantly made me think of Glastonbury last year.)

Poster seems fine to me... Plenty of names I wanna see there... A lot of names I'm not familiar with by name, so gonna be fun researching them all, although you haven't left us much time Emily.... Am I imagining it, or was a poster like this posted a while ago now and written off as fake due to the stage splits etc? If so, can anybody link me to that original post, I've tried looking back, and can't find it, so starting to think I imagined seeing this poster already.

I'm getting deja vu here... sure I saw that picture, and had / saw the same response, last year... 🙈🤣 As long as Crumble Shack, Annie Maes and the dosa place near WG / CH that does those amazing homemade bhajis are there, I'm golden. No doubt we'll do our usual "food truck crawl" where we go stall to stall as a group for a few hours buying one item to share from each. So I hope there's some new and interesting stalls too.

I'm no enthusiast or expect, but yes, I like a 'good' show. One that's story driven, set to music with precision timing, and encompasses other elements, like lasers, fire, drones etc. That was my point all along, that I never bother with smaller displays like Glastonbury's, they always seem a bit naf after experiencing so many really good full scale productions. Sorry for the confusion. Edited to add: If we're going to enjoy fireworks for years to come with minimal impact on the environment, I also believe that big productions are the way to go, and hopefully less people using them at home... 30k people in a field watching one display has to be better than each of those families having their own small display in the garden... Right?

They said 'personally love fireworks.' hence the offer...

Fair enough... I can recommend some good displays in the UK if you're genuinely interested?
