Haha I listened to my first chart show in like 4000 years just to find out... Was announced over 30 minutes ago now

1 hour to go 🤞 Really hope he does it. As I said earlier in the thread, good to see Holly Humberstone in the top 5 mix too. 🙂

I wouldn't disagree with that, but I wouldn't think that wearing the same costume as somebody else wore qualifies it as being too similar to something else from the past. Anyway, never mind that now, I understand your point of view, while I don't share the same view, it makes perfect sense to me and I can see where you're coming from... More importantly though, what did you think of the story telling in The Tale of Jenny and Screech?

Oh ok, well that makes a lot more sense now... You know, you're really hard to read sometimes, probably why you're often misunderstood. 🙈 I don't read her comment like that though, I read it as his songwriting and performance was so good, it makes many who came before him's efforts look like the work of children. But maybe I'm wrong. 🤷‍♂️

I think I must be misunderstanding you then, because I thought you were saying that you cannot understand Sinead's high praise for his songwriting and performance, because somebody else has performed in a medical gown and wheelchair before???

That's fair, it's definitely 'part' of the performance, especially when it sets the scene for the whole song as it does here. However I don't think wearing a similar costume to somebody in the past defines the performance. Anyway, did you watch the Tale of Jenny and Screech? It's his ability to tell a story, and hold your attention, his wordsmithery that impresses me so much. He's not necessarily the most original artist ever, he's not the first to be able to tell a good story in song, not even the first to tell the tale of abusive cycles through different generations. But bloody hell, he is definitely one of the best at it I've come across in recent years / decades.

I think her comments were more to do with the songwriting and performance rather than set and costume design. Did you watch any others, or just Hi Ren. I'd recommend the Tale of Jenny and Screech, wondering what your take on that would be.

Got an email from Music Glue apologising for issues experienced by many, so it wasn't just me. All fixed now. I already bought a bundle too (though it hasn't arrived yet.) And the standard version of the digital album. However, the new track and the instrumentals weren't to be missed. Been messing around with Reason, FL and Cubase again lately, so hoping I can steal some samples from them haha (purely for my own enjoyment of course!)

He may be independant, but his teams marketing game is top notch... The emails they send out. I probably hear more from Ren than I do any other artist I've ticked the 'allow contact' box on. He just released a Digi Deluxe version of sick boi with a new track on it, Castles made of sand, as well as some instrumentals. Only problem is, I can't download it, this, or something else, seems to be crashing his digital distributor, Music Glue. 😕 So no idea if it's any good. Don't even know if it linked in any to the Hendrix one, a cover, anything like that... Anybody else know?

Hey, fair enough, enough said then. For what it's worth, any artist who has been 'popular' for more than a year or so has much bigger numbers on facebook. Facebook's death has been quite rapid over the past few years. Me too, I'm a facebook wrinkly too... Except I don't really have Instagram, not a personal account anyway. It was @Sawdusty surfer who first put us on to him in January... My favourite newly discovered artist this year by a country mile, so I owe him one.

4 x higher than Easy Life, who played the Pyramid in 2022... 3 x higher than Fred Again.. Who was too big for the Other stage... Twice as many as Wet Leg who were too big for park stage in 2022... More followers on Facebook than Masie Peters who played Pyramid this year. More followers than Fontaines D.C Facebook Followers... Ren 153k Easy Life 38k Wet Leg 70k Fred Again 53k Maisie Peters 95k Fontaines D.C 109k Ironic thing is, a few artists I've compared his numbers to there are actually really popular with Facebook's demographics too, and he's still got more followers than them!!! But yeh, I guess you're right... He can't be very popular, because none of the facebook wrinklies like him...

Like I said, don't believe me, read the research, or do your own, there's plenty of sources out there.

No, as somebody who has a 20 year old and a 21 year old, as well as somebody who also employs several 18 to 21 year olds, they really don't. The only under 22 year old I know with Facebook is my 21 year old daughter, and we set that up for her when she was 13, she doesn't use it for any reason other than messenger these days. It's all about the Gram, Snap, Youtube, or TikTok these days... To socialise and keep in touch they generally use Snap or the gaming chat service that shall not be named, I say gaming, these days it's being used more and more for none gaming reasons, even musicians recognise the need to have a server. But don't take it from my real life experience... This image says it all, shows why Facebook are extremely worried, and explains why they're desperately trying anything, including rebranding to Meta.

Facebook? You do realise NOBODY under a certain age is using Facebook these days don't you? He has over a million subs on youtube... To put that into context, Wet Leg have 197k, Fred Again... has 359k, Sam Fender has 223k He turned down Glastonbury for 2023, due to medical reasons, (he was in Canada undergoing treatment.) He'll be on the farm soon, whether it's this time or next time. Album charts currently look like this... 1) Rick Astley 2) Ren 3) Holly Humberstone 4) The Streets Shame him and Holly are up against each other as new entries.
  17. Confirmed our pre 2020 regs and I didn't get a deletion email, not for any of the family registrations.
  18. Since feeling gross at Kendall Calling I've been doing lots of (responsible) wild camping and hiking as well as, more recently, watching the diet too.. Fallen in love with Dartmoor, and obviously spending lots of time up in the local Peak District too. So far I've lost 16lb but that was after a long period of self destruction, so it isn't really a loss.... Gonna get a bit cold (and windy) to be camping on top of hills soon though... 😕
  19. Haven't used a merchant services provider that doesn't work on percentages in at least 8 years, maybe longer. It's why we suddenly saw (most) minimum transaction amounts disappear over night in retail... 0.7% of £1 is no worse than 0.7% of £1,000,000 (Ironically though, your example Sumup have a service wide minimum transaction amount of £1... They also charge 1.69% to new customers not opting for the 'SumUp One' subscription model, they're a bit of a rip off to be honest.) Bank of England has inflation rates at 21% between 2019 and 2023. Given that when the prices for 2023 were set we were facing a fuel crisis, materials shortage, record food inflation and all we were reading in the papers was how it was only going to get worse, perhaps the organisers took that 21% and built in a buffer to cover the unknown. Maybe, just maybe, with the situation not turning out quite as badly so far as the worst doom mongers were predicting, we won't see much of a price increase this year, maybe last year's buffer covers it??? Or maybe we will, maybe they were just clawing back covid losses... I don't really care either way, it'd still be the best value music event on the planet at £500 a head!
  20. Can't happen, once reg number is used it won't go through again. You still have to do all the reg number steps etc, it's literally just the final payment stage that has changed / maybe is changing
  21. I think that's 'reaching' a little. Sure there are idiots out there, but this is a system that can protect thousands of people from the disappointment of getting through fair and square only to miss out due to a technical issue, like last year's fiasco. To write it off fearing that there's some weirdo who can find a thousand like minded weirdo friends to go to all the effort of registering, and then trying on ticket day, just to see if they can, or for the lolz, is a bit out there. I mean, sure, there are definitely people on the internet who 'would' do that, definitely people weird enough out there. But ultimately it'd make no difference, they'd achieve nothing, those tickets would go to proper fans eventually, (and fairly.) And that's if they even got through, having 100 people trying for tickets lately doesn't guarantee success, as last year's group buying proved! If anybody is sad enough to try that, let them, their time and effort they're wasting. As for the thousands who got through fair and square last year, only to miss out (to people like me, sawwy,) at least they won't have that worry this year!
  22. The number of people who change their minds in the hour between securing tickets and getting a payment request will be minimal, I can't see it increasing resale numbers by much, if at all. (If people have doubts after an hour, they'd almost certainly have had doubts before balance day anyway.) As somebody who definitely benefitted from somebody else's misery last year, by getting tickets 40 minutes after 'Sold Out' I very much approve of the new system, that situation last year was highly unfair.
  23. Just to clarify, I don't doubt what you are saying one little bit, the doubt is that it was an 'oversight' to leave a back door so wide open.
  24. That would be a nice thought, maybe I'm just too cynical. 🤷‍♂️
  25. That sounds almost so ridiculously stupid that if I was a sceptical person I'd say it must have been deliberate to get bigger crowds in and sell more beer!!!
