  1. It's a shame alright but John did set up a new festival in 2018 - All Together Now - which incorporated his vision. It's inaugural year was a flying success but John then tragically passed away shortly after. It was obvious for 2019 that the festival had lost it's leader as it was marred with problems. Nature also unfortunately went against them with horrible weather and weirdly, a wasp infestation too. Covid has delayed the 3rd edition but hopefully it has given them time to get things on track again.
  2. Having the campsites intertwined within the festival, and no security walls breaking things apart, was the biggest shock for me at Glastonbury. It's incredible. Electric Picnic lost its soul when John Reynolds (RIP) was pushed out. Reynolds had a vision similar to Glastonbury's. After the financial crash in 2008, his venues Tripod & Crawdaddy left him under considerable financial pressure. Although the festival wasn't linked to these ventures, my anecdotal understanding is that they were leveraged to push him out of the festival he created. No one can argue that EP hasn't grown massively since then. But each year it pulls further away from its roots to becoming another generic festival with an imbalance towards profit over substance. Getting that balance right is something Glastonbury absolutely excels in. Here's hoping All Together Now can grow to be the festival Reynolds envisioned.
  3. Haha, the gift that keeps on giving 😂 And here was me proudly thinking I hadn't fallen for any April fools this year!
  4. I think @Gnomicide might have something but is sworn to secrecy as to what it is! Some sort of update to one of the areas I believe...
  5. Watching things unfold in here over the last few days has been entertaining 😄 My two cents... I appreciate that the festival needs to evolve and cater to a younger audience, I'm cool with that. My problem, well, probably better described as an irk, is what is popular music these days. Modern hip-hop isn't my bag but I do find a fair bit of what's out there at the moment to be quite generic, sometimes over produced and to be honest, at times pretty trashy. For example I don't get the whole Cardi-B WAP thing and if I had a young daughter, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be bringing her to the Pyramid to sing along to the lyrics of Doja Cat's "Rules" (I also dont think thats an age thing as it's the same reason I wasn't a fan of the violent lyrics of 90s/00s gangster rap). All that said, I'm not too worried who the headliners are and find I'm more often caught between the Park, the Other Stage & West Holts anyway. Now back to the topic... Rumour has it we might hear something this week??
  6. Usually around the same time as everyone else... from memory it's close enough, maybe a 3 or so weeks before the festival. Yeah, I'd imagine it's considerable enough - and the that's also not including the UK customers who opt for collection (and as someone stated earlier, even before this the queue was a few hours long)
  7. Don't forget that the ticket office open time is also key. Will it be open from Tuesday for Campervans? Will it close overnight and if so, when will it open again? Will it be pointless for Internationals to arrive early Wednesday morning if the office doesn't open until an hour or so before the gates?
  8. Jeez, if Glasto bookers really did get their knickers in a twist over an April fools joke, they'd want to take a good hard look at themselves.

    Glasto Vlogs

Not a big vlogger person but I have enjoyed watching these two -
  10. Haha, I know. More a facepalm because I only just asked if it was a tent 😂
  11. Not a link to a deal but defo an essential for me. If you've a small tent (or even if you don't) - a poncho towel is a real winner. Sticking one of these on over your smalls and just chilling outside your tent in the morning sun - coffee in hand - is a dream. A great way to start the day.
  12. For the Monday the only criteria was that the hotel had a pool/jacuzzi, etc. 👌 "The usual mad scramble" - this is it. We sail across Dublin to Holyhead on the Monday, giving ourselves Tuesday in Bristol to pick up supplies, then head to the festival earlier Wednesday morning, avoiding the traffic. On Monday, not having the stress of catching a flight or otherwise is worth its weight in gold.
  13. Having spent the pandemic doing sweet f' all, in February myself and a few friends decided to do the 'Freezbury' challenge, it was great for getting the blood flowing again. If you're close to the sea, I highly recommend going for sea swims (For Freezbury, during the month of Frebruary you swim in the sea every day, incrementing a minute for every day. Feb 1st = 1min, Feb 28th = 28th mins) That challenge has now set us up for the next one. For April, we're going to start with a 2km run/walk and increment it by 200m each day. 30th April will be 7.8km but over the month it adds up to 147km (or the distance from Dublin to Wexford) Hopefully that'll get me closer to where I'd like to be for Glasto!
  14. Yeah, the pandemic hit me too. You're still 3 months out though chief, there's stil time!
  15. Booked hotels in Bristol either side of the festival - its good to be nice to yourself.
  16. These may have been mentioned already but the Chats have space for Glasto in their calendar...
  17. Sounds like we need more people to email them so that understand how much of a pain in the hole it's going to be...
  18. Trentemøller - another one with a big gap on their tour schedule in June.
