    Tent Poll 2022

I've sworn by this one over the last 5 years - https://www.decathlon.ie/2-3-man-tents/142656-36737-camping-tent-arpenaz-freshblack-3-person.html If that's what you're after, an awning or tarp is a great little add-on too - https://www.decathlon.ie/tarps/334065-149115-camping-awning-arpenaz-fresh-6-people.html#/481-demodelsize-254no_size/60805-demodelcolor-8648418 But if you've got the cash to spend, this one is well worth the investment -

    Tent Poll 2022

I just upgraded my 5 year old 3 man Arpenaz FnB to a 4.1 XL air tent. Can't wait to bring it for a test run. FnB tents are genuinely game changing. It's the single best thing I've purchased over my 20 odd years of festival going.

    Tent Poll 2022

Yep, they usually have them set up in the shop

    Tent Poll 2022

    Don't worry, there's a FnB for that too 😎
  5. When did you buy it? Pretty sure Decathlon have a 5 year guarantee on their air tents Edit: Yep (although I'm not sure what the fine print is) - https://www.decathlon.co.uk/landing/warranty-information/_/R-a-a340014v

    RATM

I was scrabbling for a ticket back in 2019 when they were announced, not too worried now tbh
  7. Thanks everyone, plenty of listening to keep me going over the weekend 🙌
  8. Probably a sign of my age but I only recognise a handful of artists on the Silver Hayes poster, I see a lot of other efesters are in the same position too. In a similar vein to previous threads, can some of the more in-the-know here post some YouTube links that might help me explore over the next few days? Example: Overmono and Ross from Friends have both been mentioned quite a few times, I've never heard of either
  9. Looks like Silver Hayes must have lost the log in details to their Twitter account 😂
  10. I'm in the same situation. Some sort of schedule would go a long way in helping me build a bit of excitement at home
  11. Bit the bullet today and upgraded my 3 person fresh & black, to a fresh & black 4.1 XL air tent. Can't wait to bring it for a test run!
  12. Maybe but I think that would take away from the individual area's getting to promote themselves via their official social media channels (and thus promoting said social media channels)
  13. Anywhere in particular in the EU? The rules are fairly loose now across Europe. I have to travel a bit for work and the most strict I saw was Austria at the start of the year (3G rule - fully vaxed in the last 270 days and if longer, proof of booster or recovery) but even at that, I see they've loosened up quite a bit too.
  14. Myself and my group will be in Bristol Monday/Tuesday. We'll be driving early doors Wednesday morning (a 2am job) but should have a space or two free in the car if there's any of the international contingent looking for a lift to/from the festival.
  15. If you've an android phone and really wanted the old one to see what's going on, you could download it manually... https://m.apkpure.com/glastonbury-app-2019/uk.co.ee.Glastonbury2013
  16. I think it's probably a bit more nuanced than that. For one, the BBC has a number of channels it can broadcast to. In the event of the Queen clocking off, it may that the Glasto coverage is just moved down the channel ladder. However, traditional televised broadcast ain't the same pull as it was. For most new artists, their target demographic is more often than not, young. Where do you find them? Online. These days, artists will be more concerned with their reach online than traditional linear broadcast (that's limited to the UK & Ireland). Having a TV quality production of your festival performance (which BBC Studios are the dogs bollocks at) is probably one of the most valuable assets an artist can have. I've no doubt Lizzo's Glasto performance online can be - in part - attributed to her rising success.
  17. The nerd in me is loving these comparisons (so much so I've started comparing fan videos of each set to get better idea of crowds) Ultimately though, I think it boils down to investment and the fact that the BBC are broadcasting veterans with a production made primarily for TV. Coachella seems lower budget.

    Club Covid

I got it a few weeks ago (for the 2nd time) and was initially quick to share here how delighted I was to get it out of the way. Unfortunately it's triggered shingles though so now I'm enjoying that too... Here's hoping the rest of you avoid this little add on, can't say its the most pleasant!
  19. 60 years on and apparently we're celebrating pre-teen girls singing about giving head and getting their mouths spat in...
  20. What a strange comment... Removing the fact that Glastonbury, of all festivals, is about more than just music, I think resorting to a "why are you even going" comment is a bit low. It was a deliberately controversial opinion in the thread specifically for controversial opinions.... So just to be clear. It wasn't a dig at a specific genre - I actually do like a lot of rap and hip hop. It wasn't about skin colour - that didn't even cross my mind. Simply put, I find overtly violent lyrics (the kind of stuff that glorifies gun and knife crime) unnecessary and arguably dangerous. I also find overly sexualised lyrics unnecessary and potential damaging. I never once said that these artists, or indeed their musical genre, aren't worthy of a spot on any stage. It was about specific songs. If I was to distill into one line - the idea of 12/13 year old girls singing along to WAP makes my stomach turn.
  21. Crass and violent lyrics dont sit well with me as a whole and I haven't jumped to defend any of the acts you've mentioned. Those songs fall in to the same boat for me. In fact, I'm actually kind of annoyed I even mentioned Stormzy in my original post because it's stuff like Rules and WAP this year, that's really making my cringe.
  22. It's not cherry picking lyrics to attack a genre. Would be far more productive to provide me with an argument as to why I should maybe reconsider my opinion on the lyrics, rather than assume its an attack on the genre as a whole. The whole "well they did it too" argument isn't up to much... And for the record, I'm not a fan of the Beatles.
  23. Well yeah, my opinion on those lyrics is exactly the same. I think it's worth adding both of those songs were written in the mid 60s though. Whatever way you want to look at it though, just giving other examples doesn't exactly rebute my point.
  24. Oh yeah, WAP. The anthem that apparently encapsulates feminisim... 🙄
