I stupidly started smoking at about 20, never been a 'proper smoker' more social...but at times of stress i found myself lighting up.

Ive had 2 kids since then, and gave up 99%...except 'socially'...when i was out with friends drinking which would only happen like once a month if that.

At a festival ill smoke all weekend.

its crept up abit in the last 6 months or so...now once or twice a week, usually when its the weekend. In that evening ill go through 10-15 fags easily!...which i definitely feel in the morning. yuk.

I only ever seem to 'want' a cig when i drink...even if its just 1 glass of wine.

I always said "ill give up when I'm 25" smoking is not 'that' necessary for me...I'm obviously not addicted if i CAN go days/weeks at a time without it crossing my mind. But the fact its picked up recently, Ive promised myself to give up next month (well new years day...to be cliche)...i turn 26 next month anyway.

ill be fine...until the next night out/next bevvy after new years lol...then i think it'll be hard...I'm so used to having a glass of wine in one hand and cig in the other.

hmmph..

i know ill do it tho...when i set my mind to something, I DO succeed. It cant be that hard can it?

good luck to everyone!

I had my final cig watching the glasto high lights at about 2-3am on NYE.

i know were only on the 3rd of Jan - but tonight was the first night after new year that was a 'drinking night (party) This is what i was dreading.

Ive missed it a bit. but 5 hrs later - i feel fine. :P im more sober then i usually would be. :s even tho i thought i was drinking faster then everyone else. *shrugs*

for a social smoker the first party has to be the hardest yeah?? *hope so* - its crossed my mind like a million times tonight - but it was controllable :P

I know i've posted this before but, it worked for me and I figure this is an appropriate time to re-post it:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-S...4278&sr=8-1

I read this 6 years ago and haven't missed smoking, don't want to smoke and I feel a whole lot better although I have put on weight!

The good thing about this book is that you continue smoking whilst reading it, he tels you when to light your last cigarette, by that time I really didn't want to light the last tone, it made me feel sick!

And Katster, it is probably your body clearing out all the gunk from years of smoking. They reckon that it takes 10 years of not smoking in order to repair the damage you do to your lungs from smoking. I still have a "clear out" every few days. Doesn't bother me at all, i've got used to it now.

I posted something like this when I was quitting.

I used Champix, was pretty rough going with the nausea for the first few days but worth it in the end as it passes.

Apart from the odd spliff at festivals I've not had a fag for 2 and half years. Still miss them sometimes but overall best thing I ever did.

See - white teeth!! :P

You know you gotta give up the smokes, blo*dy hell it's hard tho! I haven't touched one for four n half years now and still dream of it! :P I wake up sometimes in a panic thinking I've smoked one :P

I went to the 'smoking nurse' at the local surgery and she gave me patches and an inhalator - looks like a tampon and you do look like a bit of t*t down the pub but you get a goo0d rush off it :P and it worked for me. Best advice I can give, is, don't think you can even touch one, you'll be straight back on it.

Best of luck :P

Ah see over the last while I've finally been convinced I need to do it. I've kinda wanted to do it before but not realy fully into it. I've got folk supporting me n stuff this time which is cool too. The only thing I'm worrying about is, I start my new job on Monday, I hope I'm not cranky n stuff. Rubbish time to quit I know.
