Have you actually read what is going on? I'm going for a chest X-Ray in like 40 minutes.

Forgive me for bricking myself slightly.

Ive been off em 3 months ish now (as has Glastomongrel) using the champix tablets. To anyone who has tried and failed to give up smoking, Id urge you to give em a go, it has been virtually craving free and as straightforward as it gets. And its been tested with getting hammered and, er, other enhancements. Reckon Ive cracked it this time :P

Smoked my last tobacco rollie on August 7th. Gave my bag away to someone at a party and not had a drag since.

Totally over it now. Have been weak willed in the past especially when around chums who smoke but now got the yuck taste experience and the painfulness so can happily steer clear.

Well Ive not been taking the tablets a couple of weeks now. Have managed all the things that would normally have me reaching for the fags - driving, working ludicrous number of hours, getting hammered, other stuff. Dont even think about them anymore for most of the time and haven't had a craving in a while so Im pretty confident i have it cracked this time.

Im optimistic about this part. It's 5 months until my first so should be well out the habit by then anyway and anything I do at festivals drink and drugs wise I do outside too and have safely negotiated so far.

A friend has just said, and I suspect he's right. If it was something serious they'd either tell me straight away or I'd be admitted, or they'd run further tests??

So the fact that they haven't hopefully means it's good news?

Aye. I'm less worried than before having the x-ray. It's done now isn't it, kind of like an exam....I can't do anything about the results now, I just have to wait for them to come.

I'm 99.99% sure it won't be anything more serious than pneumonia or pleurisy.

I stupidly started smoking at about 20, never been a 'proper smoker' more social...but at times of stress i found myself lighting up.

Ive had 2 kids since then, and gave up 99%...except 'socially'...when i was out with friends drinking which would only happen like once a month if that.

At a festival ill smoke all weekend.

its crept up abit in the last 6 months or so...now once or twice a week, usually when its the weekend. In that evening ill go through 10-15 fags easily!...which i definitely feel in the morning. yuk.

I only ever seem to 'want' a cig when i drink...even if its just 1 glass of wine.

I always said "ill give up when I'm 25" smoking is not 'that' necessary for me...I'm obviously not addicted if i CAN go days/weeks at a time without it crossing my mind. But the fact its picked up recently, Ive promised myself to give up next month (well new years day...to be cliche)...i turn 26 next month anyway.

ill be fine...until the next night out/next bevvy after new years lol...then i think it'll be hard...I'm so used to having a glass of wine in one hand and cig in the other.

hmmph..

i know ill do it tho...when i set my mind to something, I DO succeed. It cant be that hard can it?

good luck to everyone!

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
