reading 'filth' by irvine welsh the now. it's ok, but i'm halfway through and i'm still waiting for something to actually happen.

does anyone think that trainspottong is his best book? cause so far i've read trainspotting, porno, glue, bedroom secrets of the masterchefs and now i'm onto filth, and trainspotting is my least favourite.

can't remember if i've mentioned it before, but has anyone read "the trick is to keep breathing" by janice galloway? it's one of my favourite books but i think i'm the only person in the world who's read it.

Oooo, now it's Summer, I've actually read some books!

Generation X - which I loved, really took to the lead characters and though it was written a fair while ago, it still seems to resonate.

Off the back of that I read Girlfriend in a Coma which I loved all the way up until about the last 30 pages or so, when the story shifts (those who've read it will know where I mean) at which point it felt a bit like an episode of Scrubs where JD does the moral of the story voice over

Received A Thousand Splendid Suns as a leaving pressie from work, which although I really, really enjoyed and found difficult to put down, having discussed it with a few people, we came to the conclusion we wouldn't read another of his books unless he totally changed the setting, as this one is really just The Kiterunner, but with women...

Another one I got from work was The Story of Edgar Sawtelle which I absolutely adored. About a mute child who grows up on the family farm where they breed dogs. Really engaging story, didn't want the book to end and made me want to have one of the dogs Definitely recommend it, especially to dog lovers (which I really wasn't, before reading)!

Currently reading The Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy (another gift) - finding it slow going so far.

Just read 'Goodnight Jim Bob - On the road with Carter USM', a very funny autobiography of the lead singer of the largely forgotten 1990s agit-pop band famous for clever lyrics, very poorly produced records and pouncing on Philip Schofield live on TV.

Currently reading a book called Killing Me Softly by Nicci French. I'm really enjoying it. I had started reading Russell Brand's Booky Wook but I've left it at a mates house and won't get it back for a few days so decided to read another in between. I'm enjoying having books as a bigger part of my life these days

Currently reading The 17 by the great Bill Drummond.

I am near the End of the Crystal cave by Mary stewart which I have really enjoyed a bit of a rest of my usual serial killer books and would like a few more authrian legend books can anyone recommend any for me. I have read the Mists of avalon whik is brilliant and Mort de arthur and a few more but really enjoyed the whole historical fiction thing again and want more.

i was nearly sick when...

- he got his 5 year old brother to smack a bomb with a stick, and watched from a dune as he was blown up

- he tied his little cousin to a massive kite and let her get dragged off into the ocean

- Eric starts talking a bit sexually to a dog he has in the phone box when calling Frank
