I think even Sziget delivers more on that basis though.

Roskilde has more than Sziget, especially post covid.

Roskilde has better lineups(more depth), on a par outside music. Only aspect is Sziget has guaranteed hot weather, used to be a lot cheaper.

Roskilde and Sziget are my 2 fave festivals.

Interesting to hear you thought Werchter was quite basic, to be honest thetime hasn't said basic before but has said outside of the music there isn't much.

I actually like the idea of the MC option of going in, seeing your bands and back to a bed and chilling through the city before hand.

Werchter for example this year had so many big gaps for me that I always kinda wish it had that option to explore elsewhere and come back with like a 3 hours gap. Obviously everyone is different on that but I'd have squashed it down to 3 days and padded it out rather than chase around and already weak and repeated Saturday.

The lineups at Sziget have been dreadful in recent years... Yeah, Glastonbury is in a league of its own so can't really compare.

I think Mad Cool will be perfect for you then. Big lineup and less of the exploring and filling gaps by discovering new stuff, which is something I enjoy really. Let me know what you think of Mad Cool... Just hope you've booked accomodation or you'll be paying a hefty fee for that comfort! haha

To be honest even the last two years, especially 2024 they seems to have a lot of stuff higher than many other festivals have them and lack depth and Thursday and Saturday this year seemed the same. Byrne, Kneecap, Zara and Simz might actually looks stronger but are they sub names?

Depends what you look for in a festival; Roskilde intentionally aims for variety across many musical spectrums and therefore the placement of acts is spread. In 2019 in one day I saw in a row Janelle Monae -> Converge -> The Cure -> Cypress Hill. In 2023 saw Fever Ray -> Chat Pile -> Lorna Shore -> Kendrick Lamar -> QOTSA. Can't name another fest in Europe with that kind of range in a day!

Admittedly the last few years haven't been as strong as the festival historically has had and there is a noticeable shift to booking more newer artists in top spots as the crowd skews that way more (Ice Spice as headliner was a real low point...).

Who is your money on for the final headliner mate?

Yeah it was stronger. In though where else are coverge subbing?. To be honest in 2023 while the run, that's high for Lorna Shore and Chat Pile

Taking a punt on a late-night Orange stage dance headliner like Fred Again or Justice and then before them an act the size of Florence & The Machine or 1975.

Maybe the Prodigy, or are they not "current" enough for Roskilde crowd? Florence and the Machine would be awesome, but would she not be an outright headliner? Her schedule means she'd have to play the Wednesday before the Cure, too, I think... Likely you reckon?

It's common for Roskilde to have a large Orange stage headliner (Like Foo Fighters or Blur) and then a late night act on the same stage after them (starting at like 1am)

As big as Florence and the Machine? If so, I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Never seen her in all the years I'vbe been goign to festivals.

She would headline in her own right, so no.

Even outright headliners have had 'late night' headline acts play after them on the same stage. Recently this happened with Blur, Foo Fighters, Doja Cat, Stormzy, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Tyler The Creator.

I read it as Florence playing after the headliner, as the late night act.

Not a headliner, but I can see Lily Allen being there. She was announced for Ruisrock yesterday, and her latest album got quite popular.

I have also noticed Rochelle Jordan was announced yesterday - one of my favourite pop albums of the year. I am really considering going now.

Lily Allen is a solid shout. Could also see Robyn perhaps returning.

Robyn returning would be amazing. The last time she played is still the loudest and biggest singalong I’ve ever heard, wouldn’t want to see her anywhere else after that.

I remember stumbling out of Underworld in the Arena to find Robyn performing on the Orange Stage at 1am. One of my best Roskilde nights!

do you think there will be more announcement before new year? hope for something from Pulp, The War on Drugs, Bad Religion, Lily Allen also might be fun

IIRC correctly there were no announcements in December last year. Was a long wait until the end of January.
