Jesus - I was thinking I was almost definitely going to do LP at Wembley having missed out on Glasto. Firstly thought ticket prices were going to be more reasonable than the o2 was (supply/demand) and secondly thought they would struggle to sell out initially.

I have presale access so just looked and standing is sold out already and they are charging over £100 for bang average seats!

Fortunately I had tickets for their o2 comeback gig but I think I'll try my luck with standing tickets nearer the time. But in addition to what's already been said about the prices of big gigs these days, I also hate bands like LP doing the front/back/vip standing sections which seem just to be there to rip off people in desperation.

Also at these price points now it's hard to get mates involved who aren't mega fans but could have been persuaded before. Looking at well over 200 quid minimum now for ticket, travel and drink/food for the day.

Yeah, it's crazy. I might justify paying a little more for a Manchester gig due to reduced travel overheads, but it's still.

Won't go triple figures for any show before fees so this one can stick and twist for now, alas.

Yeah I would understand that but those prices above madness. An LPU pit, Zero pit, Front standing and Rear standing areas....£100, £150 and then over £400. This to me has the makings of a band looking to come back for two years to make money and then call it a day. I don't personally think the album is strong enough to take them much further and they had they had long enough to work on this one than I don't see a follow up reaching the heights of this.

Not sure it is so much a case of plans to call it a day as potentially with the caveat that it might be the last time for matters outside of their control.

Among twenty-first century bands, Linkin Park will know this more than most.

But they're far from the only one charging well over the odds - though of course, you have the factor the sheer cost of touring too.

It’s emotional reasons like this is the reason prices keep going up. FYI I’m not having a go at you, just showing how even with the best intentions FOMO is a powerful thing.

Oh, absolutely. I'm a shocker of a hypocrite - though I will say that I said in either this thread or another that I have set limits for what I consider acceptable per act.

This ultimately fell below that threshold - just - and indeed, the emotional reaction factored into it.

I'm taking her to see Falling in Reverse week after next - now that is one I could quite happily bin off...

  • 4 months later...

Posted this in the cheap tickets thread but figured it might get more traction here. My kids' school PTA are running a fundraising auction and one of the prizes is 4 tickets to Linkin Park at Wembley (premium seats). Bidding is currently at £205 for all 4, which is obviously a lot cheaper than face value - thought I'd post on here in case anyone is interested in bagging a relative bargain:

Auction closes at 8pm Friday, FYI. Any questions, ask away!

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
