You may be giving a Real Sociedad side that don't look as hot as previous versions credit.

Though we could have an answer by Friday of next week as to how that goes.

I just know how incredibly poor utd are, especially in the forward play. Utd struggle to beat Southampton and Ipswich at home, which says alot.

United attack of Hojlund, Zirkzee and Garnacho have 8 goals in 75 league games. Which is perhaps the worst attacking lineup in my 40 years supporting United. Even in the barren run off the 80s we had proper attackers.

I can see Soceidad getting a low scoring win thursday, then we will get picked off later in the home game next week.

I guess if you win, you win. But yeah, it is a much trickier contest with the attack looking so out of form in particular. Much as I dread to think it could be for us if we have a Carabao Cup final with no Isak or Gordon so have to resort to an over-the-hill Wilson and Barnes, who hasn't really pushed on after looking a decent player at Leicester.

Even getting past Sociedad is no guarantee of what would be a season salvaging trophy given there's a likely big hitter waiting in the next phase.

I would fancy us in the next round against steau or Lyon.

Still angry that the “reward” for winning the group stage is facing PSG

I don't think you'd have been PSG's first choice opponent either tbf. They had a difficult group stage.

Still if you guys can level the playing field and have key players ruled out of the upcoming Carabao Cup final like we have with Hall & Gordon out, that'd be useful.

PSG finished way down the group they should expect a “big” team.

Blimey everyone is a Liverpool fan on here now. 😉

To think not so long ago people were popping up in this thread wondering if everyone was a Newcastle fan.

... or at least "Why doesn't that one Newcastle fan stop posting all the time?"

Yeah but Newcastle fans and Utd fans are here when they are sh*t, taking the abuse.

Typical Liverpool fans only here when they are successful. It's like the Leeds fan that was here for a year, then they got relegated.

Non football fans for me.

I've seen 2 or three other Toon fans post here too tbf.

Usually to talk about the stress supporting them induces, a tradition that seems to be continuing judging by the news Hall and Botman are likely out for the rest of the season.

Carabao final isn't this weekend but Isak has trained ahead of our game at West Ham on Monday. It's possibly the case we're just going to have to manage his minutes due to his groin. Trippier and Livramento also trained after getting damage in the Brighton game, so they may have to do duty as our first choice full backs for a bit with Tino out of position at left-back.

Whether the Swedes do the same with Isak in the internationals at the end of the month, who knows. Least they've got an excellent other striker option in Gyokeres.
