The reason I used Coldplay was that Glastonbury is the only festival that got them worldwide. To put into context, Glasto is the only festival Coldplay have played anywhere I believe worldwide since 2011. Olivia is a big get but she is doing loads of festival shows this summer, Glastonbury isn't an exclusive. And she will no doubt go on to headline Coachella in 2026.

Coldplay did MIA Fest in Philly back in 2016, but yes, they were a big get for 2024.

Could you share that IG link?

I would tag it in if it pops up or I remember the link.

Good spot. Worldwide in 2024 and European Exclusive in 2016. 2011 is the last European festival aside from Glastonbury they've done. Pulling in a band 10 x Wembley Stadium is as big as you're getting.

Just seen a piece on instagram about how stadium shows are more and more an incentive for the huge artists costing festivals to lose huge artists. Reminds you even more how massive it was getting Coldplay last year.

its more that artists might not feel the need to do festivals because sometimes the financials dont match what a solo show pays. It just depends. But the thing is if Glasto was actually lineup reliant then you could see a problem. But we havent really crossed that line yet where its been sub par headliners and the ticket doesnt justify it. Theyre getting close, but not yet. If they would dare to announce a lineup and then put tickets on sale and let the public decide the demand then its another story. Theyre still getting by on reputation so when they really miss big on a trio when others get the big fish then you can discuss whats really happening. I mean theyre fortunate Coldplay will come in whenever they want to do the gig. Still a safe choice for them though.

    • If you are walking from south into the arena, as arena only, it takes 10-15 minutes to get into the arena. Will be slightly quicker this year too, as you enter the arena further up now.
    • Has everything been cancelled until further notice?   I took the coward’s way out and went back to the hotel.   I may return in an hour or so.
    • Hellfest have tried to get MCR for the last couple of years, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is Slayer, System, Gojira and MCR for next year at Hellfest.   I can see Download as MCR, System and one of Blink, Nickelback or NIN as the third headliner with Gojira subbing System or headlining second and potentially Slayer headlining second (but I think they will more likely not play Download because of the cost unless they want to play it).
    • Bloody hell, hope everyone's OK and they'll be able to salvage the rest of the weekend
    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!
