Cala Mijas 2023

My final feeling here is that if not for the leaks we still wouldn’t have the new wave of bands in the line up. But the question seeing the line up now is… why?!

I still hope they are giving the final touches to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and M83 contract and that they will finally be included in CalaMijas (hope of a fool I know…)

Well they need bands for the next announcement and I'm sure they will be in that.

IF there a nect announcement, and that’s a big IF.

Still thinking and no clue what was all this time waiting about?

My only theory is that they wanted to free the new poster of Kalorama and Calamijas at the same time and were trying to sign a big headliner for Kalorama instead of The Strokes, and until they got Aphex we’ve been in the dark here.

Wasn't Cave last year announced really late, June or something?

Don't get me wrong, I consider this lineup finished bar any late cancellations, but wouldn't mind a late surprise.

Also there's no Mumford and Sons, which is a huge plus.

nick cave was announced in june, but according to that poster it is already complete, last year in june more than 20 artists were announced

There's another announcement planned for Kalorama, so im assuming there'll be another for Cala Mijas.

From a quick glance on their socials it seems both festivals mirrored one another with its announcements last year and theres nothing to indicate that this year will be any different.

The insta for Kalorama says more acts to be announced. So I’m hoping that’s going to be the same for Mijas. Also this is the second wave of announcements but there were three last year? (Not including Nick Cave) I’m not very hopeful but a slim chance?

I thought the electronics would be a lot better. Don't think il bother going the Friday it's very weak for me. It is a great festival for anyone that hasn't been before and you will have a ball no matter what!

I bought tickets on the strength of the first announcement and I’ll get over it and have a great time. It’s just a bit disappointing after waiting so long and then seeing Kalorama last night….

    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
    • 1. Coming with my sister (our 4th Sziget together) 2. 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). Would rather do Tuesday-Thursday but not enough AL 😞 3. Wednesday evening  4. Apartment  5. FATM (will be my 10th Florence’s gig) 6. Parcels/Paris Paloma
