The Tories will try to convince people that scrapping IHT will benefit them when overwhelmingly barely anyone will reach the threshold to pay it. It’s another trick from the Tories and their supporters to trick the public into believing they’re on their side.

I think (hope) that the majority of people would see through scrapping IHT. Its not something that affects most people, so why would they care? The people who care are most likely going to vote Tory anyway, so I don't see it as a vote winner.

most grown up countries have a way of honouring petiole who do exceptional work so a powerless title doesn't offend me(i choose not to use it tho).

I've no problem with someone being honoured by the state for good work and Eavis is probably more deserving than most.built a world leading festival  and when he could have been cashing in he's raised sh*t loads for charitee and helped bring green ideas into the mainstream.

Eavis more deserving than most he's not milked it for every penny when he might have done.

hes made enough from it  to help fund his farm and make a bigger sucess of farming than he would have done otherwise. He's built social housing in the village. And restored the village barn.

helped fund a lovely working man's club for the village which other villages would kill for. He's kept a shop and post office in the village.

Yeah I reckon an income tax cut is more likely, makes more sense as a last ditch attempt to win voters.

Any income tax cuts will get shredded by the OBR like the truss budget Cos lowering tax receipts will f**k the country's finances. Can't see that happening without a negative effect on Tory support

yeah, with inflation coming down maybe they won't be able to fiddle the numbers as they did with the autumn budget tax cuts (although not sure how all that worked).

A cut in income tax will barely do anything to make anyone feel any better off, it’ll only be £s difference yet the usual suspects will harp on about great it is. Remember after the Autumn Statement we had people claiming things were going to be so much better…

i've heard people talk about UBI  to deal with that. if there's AI doing jobs there'll be wealth to share around..

I think it’ll have to go that way! Tax companies that are making lots of money but not hiring people.

I’m sure they’ll all wilfully go for it as well and won’t need to be dragged kicking and screaming or try and find ways around it 😂

just walked down the road to the shops, glanced in estate agents window and was surprised to see every house marked as sold, and at the sort of premium prices houses were selling for a year ago - was quite surprised to see houses selling so well.

think overall they've only fallen a few percent over the year? and probably wont' fall much more if at all over the next year...but also depends on price and location...? Difficult for first time buyers as prices still high but now borrowing more expensive...

they were all local to me, which says prices have gone back up, the house opposite, dropped by £25k before it sold.
