Do we want Truss to succeed for the sake of the country or fall for the sake of the Tories losing the next election?

Her succeeding isn’t good for the country. The only good outcome is the Tories out of government.

I'm not sure if people realise just where we're headed at the moment.

Fascism is on it's way and she's up for it, she supports ripping up our human rights.

She also supports dismantling our renewables including removing solar farms, while increasing the use of coal and reintroducing fracking.

The tories need to go ASAP.

I didn't watch the speech, or the one yesterday, but main points seems to be lowering tax and working hard aspiration nation bollocks, energy crisis, and sort out NHS of course.

Lowering tax is not a good thing, esp re sorting out the NHS.

It depends what failure looks like. I can remember when George Soros broke the bank of England because the government thought they could "fix" the value of the pound. She's effectively written a blank cheque today between the market price and her fix. Markets tend to be more powerful than governments and are very good at exploiting distortions caused by politicians.

You are completely right, she’s also looking at workers right too which is a worrying. They do need to go asap.

Yeah, I don't know how any of this stuff works, but apparently gilts/bond markets have given Truss' plans a mixed reaction.

Rees-Mogg is getting the energy job ffs.

Get ready for: dismantling of existing solar farms, no new wind farm planning consent, refiring of obsolete coal fired power stations, new oil and gas extraction licenses in the N sea and fracking to resume.

We're done for.

    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
