How safe it is to join internet ticket groups?

My desire to get a ticket is clouding my judgment. How do you know if you’re going to get scammed? Has anyone done this and not suffered any consequences?

The group is saying that I’d transfer a deposit only after one of them got through to the ticket page. Still risky?

Imagine thinking you're about to get tickets, only not to get tickets and also have lost serious cash.

Think you just have to be sensible, lots of us are on this forum all year round so getting a ticket for someone from here doesn’t seem too risky but sharing bank details or giving money a total stranger has to be a bad idea.

I figure you're pretty safe as long as you're only giving people your reg/postcode and not your bank details. You'll know if someone's bought a ticket for you because you'll get a confirmation, then you can transfer them the £50 for the deposit.

Okay I think it does sound risky doesn’t it?

They say I need to transfer £50 before they click submit which is fair I guess as they don’t want to get scammed by me either

yeaaah okay that's fairly shady. you're gonna time out on buying the actual tickets by the time a bank transfer goes through.

Dont do it. This is a high profile ticket sale and scammers know this and how it all works.

Imo there needs to be an implicit trust that if someone manages to buy for the group then the others will transfer the deposit after that. Dunno if this is a thing but I always assumed the cardholder would be able to contact the festival and get a ticket cancelled if someone then refused to pay.

Unfortunately there are some horrible people out there who see Glasto as an opportunity to make money and scam desperate people. Better to be safe than sorry!

Don’t do it, not worth the risk. Sending money to an unknown when the sale might not go through.

There are other ways into the festival if you are not successful tomorrow. Two resales and loads of volunteering options.

My advice for would be for everyone to pay when they book then send a screen shot of the confirmation with booking and ref numbers to the people you have bought for to prove it was you.

Get an email address from them and send an invoice via PayPal  so nobody has to share bank details.
