Confirmation from Brandon Flowers in an interview with NME at the Ivor Novellos that he's got two new solo albums coming out and will work on new Killers stuff after that with the rest of the band: https://www.nme.com/news/music/brandon-flowers-interview-new-music-albums-solo-the-killers-bruce-springsteen-oasis-3864383

Although I was kinda disappointed at confirmation of no Hot Fuss UK dates

Still, I do like a few tracks from his first two solo pieces, so I'll be intrigued to see what these new contributions bring to the party

It's interesting that he suggests the sound of them will hew down the Pressure Machine track. I got the impression that he loved the sound but the rest of the band weren't too keen - but then, the three Rebel Diamonds tracks that were meant to be part of another Killers record all felt far more Flowers solo style on the whole.

Springsteen namechecking that he wants to sing Quiet Town is a strong shout too. He's gone in to bat on a few tracks over the years - Here With Me got played in 2023 because Flowers admitted he'd been asked why he didn't play it anymore, and I think he generally likes Battle Born the track too, though cannot remember where it was said - so it would be nice to see a record that perhaps goes back in specifically towards the Americana bombast too. (Personal preferences, of course.)

He said in 2023 that he wanted to move away from the old version of the band towards Pressure Machine style.

Then proceeded to announce a greatest hits album and tour, so I'd take anything he says with a huge pinch of salt.

Criminal that we never got a Pressure Machine arena tour.

I think Brandon likes Pressure Machine but Ronnie doesn't, and the carrot to get the four of them back was the Hot Fuss shows.

Imagine Mark will be mostly absent going forward again, and Dave will run special guest shows.

This being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they do some Sam's Town anniversary dates.

Tbf in 2023 it was made clear the hit album and parade tour was a centre piece for 2024. But I do agree they tend to change their mind a lot about what they're doing. They've certainly been more active on the US festival circuit this year then I anticipated

I think half of the time, plans change depending on whether a certain configuration of the band comes alive or not.

Brandon and Ronnie tend to be in lockstep decision-wise, which is why the Pressure Machine stuff was intriguing. Ronnie really didn't seem to warm to it, possibly as it's not a very drum-heavy record.

Pressure Machine to me seemed more like an album for serious listening rather than throwing a drink in the moshpit stuff. But I guess it would've been cool to do a theatre tour focused on those songs and then reimagining older songs to fit in with that world.

I thought I heard rumours they were going to do it in full as part of a handful of stripped back shows - bin off the backing singers and one of the keyboardists, touring as a "campfire" five piece. Never did materialise.

My biggest surprise was that they never seemed to really sustain on Quiet Town during the Imploding the Mirage Tour. On a macro-sonic level, it was easily the most attuned to the record before it, even if its lyrics were absolutely brutal in comparison. (The Springsteen links have been made many times, but Quiet Town is one of the few tracks that lives up to his narrative power without falling into pastiche.) (And I say pastiche with great affection.)
