Somerset house series 2018

Based off the past couple years, some pure guesses are Solange, Snow Patrol, Wolf Alice, Rag 'n Bone Man, Benjamin Clementine, Sampha, Young Fathers, Thundercat, Nathaniel Rateliff and David Byrne. Those are all stabs in the dark, just acts that I know are about and could fit in well

Also MGMT are doing loads of European dates in July but no UK dates at the moment

I feel these acts really haven't been hard to see if you wanted to see them previously!

But it's not a set up I've been to before and missed MGMT in Brixton as I was away - so I'll be making the trip for one gig at least.
FWIW, I saw Sigrid and Jorja Smith recently and they are both excellent. Very very good at what they do.

Aww I wish I had the power to switch the dates of this round slightly, I am in London 13th - 15th July as I have a Lovebox ticket for the 14th. To see MGMT or Metronomy on 13th would be a mint weekend. Jorja Smith is a great singer but I don't think 30 odd quid is worth it, I am sure she plays the Toon for £20 in October!

Jeez... I was considering De La Soul, but at nearly £50 they can forget it.

As an aside, I saw Warpaint there at last year's Summer Series and I found Somerset House oddly lacking in atmosphere. It may have been more down to the crowd of course, but it wouldn't be my first choice of venue after that and definitely not one I'd pay £50 for. Especially if I had a repeat muted experience.

    • It's very weird yeah. He's on the training ground supposedly starting the job but just can't be confirmed or on any official club stuff until this paperwork gets finalised, and... why hasn't it been?   Absolutely it feels like clubs are soft on tapping up. I do think there's a difference between "are you interested in the move" "yes, go negotiate" "we're close on a price how does this do" compared to the stuff around engineering a move to a specific club.   Reports today of £75m, which honestly feel embarrassing. Why can't we do what Bournemouth are doing with Alex Scott, what Forest did with Gibbs White, what Sunderland are doing with Xhaka, etc? I think the Gordon and Tonali sales were good for the club, and the right time to move on, but Bruno hurts. A reason I didn't think he'd go to Arsenal is I thought they'd be too tight to go up to/beyond £80m.... I didn't think we'd cave at less.
    • Trying to play catch-up. Is the consensus that Faith No More's reunion run hands them the keys to headline status? Because it feels like a little bit of a stretch to me still - unless you're booting them up the Korn / Limp Bizkit route and pairing with two very big names.
    • This one has been announced for a while, but don't think it was posted about. For the Antipodean-skewing crowd next month...
    • I was a little surprised that Jack White didn't end up here, given the late summer routing of his shows around the UK. Felt like an obvious slam-dunk of a pick.   Wolf Alice intrigue me. Headlining Tramlines, likely gearing up to make the push for R+L-type slots after selling out Finsbury Park... feels like it would have to be a proper coup-level shout.
