It's basically the pub equivalent in Iran given that they obviously don't have alcohol at the minute.

Also:

Fair play to ye's.  All this Saudi / GCC sabre rattling would be giving me the collywobbles if I was in Qatar.  Presume your flights home to the fest are gonna be a ball-ache.

No unfortunately not Liam. I say I'm in Qatar but I'm actually offshore so don't get much time to get about. Don't get back into Doha until the 20th then it will be a few hours in a hotel and home for me.

It's not too bad at the moment Cal, seems like a bit of a pissing contest to be honest but I presume my flight home on the 21st is going to take an extra couple of hours as they can't fly over Saudi so I presume it will be out and over Iran then up over turkey.

to a lot of young, fairly wealth iranians, having a bar in your home stocked with knock off booze is a status symbol

Yup.  Alcohol is available by ways and means and Armenian Restaurants.  Shiraz seems to be awash with homemade wine, so I'm told.

The one in Silver Hayes is good had a really nice night there back in 2015 with a few friends chilling for hours with randoms coming and going...

Came to a bad ending when we accidentally knocked the coals onto the hessian mat though    ooops

I changed my flight today to fly on the 20th. It's cost me a lot of money as it's with Qatar Air but fuck it. Should get a refund on my Gulf Air flight
