Though that's more insightful and marginally less embarrassing than anything in the new look NME.

Bloody hell, isn't it just.

Got my daughter to get a copy for me in The Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading.

It was like reading Heat magazine or summat. There was a fucking fashion section in it.

Sad days, although it's been getting progressively shitter for years.

I did some work experience at NME (and Shoot magazine!) in the old Kings Reach Tower in the early to mid 90s. It was still fairly decent then. And pretty interesting place to 'work'. There was a nasty little 'war' going on with Melody Maker on the next floor due to Steve Sutherland's defection.

Although in the whole:

Writer = tossers

Art / Photography Dept = cracking people

Imagine Dragons are in that mainstream pop current that typifies also Bastille, Kodaline, Amber Run and other similar bands. CP influence on this kind of groups is quite obvious, they try to emulate their melodic formula and pack it in an electro-mainstream-rock texture, in order to have a catchier and "younger" sound.

needs to be read in a Pat Bateman voice for full effect

    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?    Just had another thought - Or even rent the land to the festival for CV pitches.......
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
