I've been to Milan. Go to Duomo square and surrounding areas, they're nice. Go to museums or football or fancy clothes shops if they're your thing. Drink coffee, then wine. Take a photo of the lamppost from which Mussolini was hung. Don't venture too far from the city centre, it's as ugly as the centre is beautiful.

We loved seeing them last year - had been trying for ages...... thankfully the population is on the mend now and hope to go back next year to see them again.

Also, alcohol fuelled notes on places would make a good book in themselves!

Sadly like most animals the main reason for decline was conflict with humans - in Africa they have, in parts, found compromises.................... we could learn a thing or three form them!

Talking of animals and their relationship with the environment, I watched this video on the massive effects when they reintroduced wolves to Yellowstone Park. Quite extraordinary.

Like all of nature - everything is there for a reason and if you take one piece of a house of cards away the rest falters and tumbles.

Sadly too much of humanity sees nothing but themselves and their own self importance to be bothered with the world around them or the impact one species has on others.................... rather like the wild boar here in the forest.

I shall now get off my high horse (shetland pony really cos I am short) and shut up.

Yeah, I found it rather terrifying to be honest. That a single species can have such a profound effect, yet human activities are wiping species out on a regular basis, without any knowledge of their roles.

It is something I have known about for many years - hence might fight for wildlife and it's protection - sadly it is getting worse at an alarming rate and by the time humanity wakes up 95% of all species will be gone.

It wasn't news to me exactly, but it was a particularly striking example.
