The "New" Barrier

Always assumed its part of the license. That many people in one place - thou shalt have a surge barrier.

Works fine - only seems to frustrate those trying to push their way to the front when they come to it.

Maybe in the license, dunno...or maybe just part of the ongoing development of the festival infrastructure. Many improvements since back in the day, mostly positive, well done to all involved.

Yep 2009 was the first year i regonised it during a rather empty paolo nutini set.

I always thought it was 2008 when I first noticed it go up on the Wednesday and remember telling people at the eFests meet that year that I hoped that it wasn't an attempt to build a 'Golden Circle' in front of the Pyramid...

I've been since then and can't say I remember it. It can't be that much of an issue then.

Nah, its mainly manned by security to give them a quick path through the crowd at that point to get to any issues going on. As far as moving in and out in the space in front of it I've never seen any additional crowd control going on.
