I just wear walking boots but then I'm not exactly the fashionable sort. All about comfort!

I usually take wellies and converse. In 2010, the really hot year, I wore sandals during the day, which were comfy enough, but found that the long (and sometimes sharp) blades of grass/straw managed to scratch and cut my feet through the straps of the sandals. Since then I've just stuck with converse or wellies. However, this year (weather permitting), i'm wearing a pair of short ankle slouchy/cowboy type boots. They're comfy, and my feet won't get cut to buggery! :-)

I don't think women have particularly different footwear requirements to men at a festival

Can seriously recommend spending £35-£40 on wellies rather than a tenner... the insides are so much comfier and they don't dig into your legs when you're sat on the grass.

woffy, just browse the tinterweb while mrs woff shops. Trainers and wellies seem ideal for the week. Wellies, obviously just to pander to the WG, and not really for use.

+1 for Muck Boot wellies. Certainly never buy Hunters unless you're clinically insane.

Alternatively bring a hovercraft to cruise around site in.

If going down the converse route as I do, I recommend gel insoles. Nice and comfy and give you a bit of support too

My wife will have:

Festival Wellies

Short walking boots for the hot dry conditions

High walking boots for, so she says, when it is wet (???)

Gaiters for I presume when she is walking in a lake.

I got these for last year, ridiculously comfortable, and for Merrell's surprisingly pretty(ish). Wear them all the time and worked fantastically for the festival, can walk miles comfortably in them.

In the past recommended birkenstocks as a shoe of choice in the sunshine. However last year slipping on the hill behind the park on the dewy grass in said footwear (after a few Pimms) this resulted in a sprained ankle and a limpy festival (and a long story of ambulances, xrays and allergic reactions...) Still had a fab time but was limited a bit getting any distance...

This year its walking boots all the way, only putting on sandals once safely on flat ground!

Do not underestimate the terrain..or feet safety. Broken glass (although banned) is a reality and flip flops not a good idea when walking far.

And the xray although useful- is up some stairs...! Hopping upstairs on the sprain was fairly awkward!

The other thing with Birkenstocks is it's impossible to eject a stone from inside them once they're in, due to the moulded sole area, short of stopping every two steps & removing the shoe to shake it out... and there's a lot of stones at Glastonbury!

I know people ridicule crocs but I cannot express how comfy they are for Glasto. I will be sporting mine again this year and my feet will still ache but not as much as they will without them.

Oh yes this is the downside of sandals, I had a lovely cross cross pattern of tan lines over my feet all summer after wearing them at last year's festival!
