Not a great spread of his previous output but exciting stuff nonetheless. Setlist from Tulsa last night...

Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground (The White Stripes song)

Missing Pieces

High Ball Stepper

Temporary Ground

Alone in My Home

Fell in Love With a Girl (The White Stripes song)

You Know That I Know (Hank Williams cover)

Hotel Yorba (The White Stripes song)

We're Gonna Be Friends (The White Stripes song)

Lazaretto

Hypocritical Kiss

Icky Thump (The White Stripes song)

Sixteen Saltines

Encore:

Freedom at 21

Hello Operator (The White Stripes song)

Cannon (The White Stripes song)

The Rose With the Broken Neck

Three Women

You've Got Her in Your Pocket (The White Stripes song)

Top Yourself (The Raconteurs song)

My Doorbell (The White Stripes song)

Steady As She Goes > Lemon Song

Seven Nation Army > Little Bird > Seven Nation Army

My Doorbell, Fell in Love with a Girl and You've got her in Your Pocket. I don't think they got many plays during his last tour, i'll check in a bit. Love to hear all these classic Stripes tunes again. I'd rather hear Two Against One than The Rose With the Broken Neck.

Shame there are no dead Weather songs in that playlist. Saw that he was playing Cut Like A Buffalo in some sets but looks unlikely that he will play it .

Which band did he do this set with?

Edit: just found out. The Buzzards plus Lily Mae from The Peacocks.

I'd love to see him play Icky Thump, one of my favourite White Stripes songs.

Yeah it's great, I'd even take it over Seven Nation Army.

Is Icky Thump Jack's best song?

it has my favourite lyric (which has already been half quoted):

White Americans, what? nothing better to do?

Why don't you kick yourself out, you're an immigrant too

It's just so shoutable, I think I have a mental tic where I just shout this entire verse without even thinking about it. It only manifests itself at home, in private though, which is for the best, I'm forever yelling it in the shower.

I'm glad that Hotel Yorba seems to be a live staple, that strikes me as the song that would be the best played live to a large crowd of people. And yes, I know it's on White Blood Cells, but I wont conform to your Icky Thump regime. Fuck the police!

I think Icky Thump rescued TWS for me. I felt the two preceding were kinda simplistic and watered down to advance upon the wide appeal they were getting but Icky Thump showed what they were worth before they clocked off.

I get what you're saying about the previous too albums, and don't disagree, but I just want to highlight that Little Acorns is such a great bastard of a track, that I tend to forgive that the rest of Elephant is a bit plodding.

Elephant. Plodding. Didn't even plan that pun, but I'll take it. Athankyou.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
