Ticket Touts

Looking through this thread I'm glad to see that, as ever, the internet is a bastion of well reasoned discussion, and arguements that consider the grey of the discussion rather than simply resorting to black & white, over-simplified analogies, and minor insults :)

Now to throw my (equally poorly reasoned) hat into the ring:

Touting for profit is pretty unpleasant, but I'd much rather the music industry dealt with this rather than Government. Given how well Glastonbury's photo-ID tickets seems to have been in reducing touting, this really should be implemented more widely... and the fact that it hasn't been is, perhaps, a reflection on the way most music festivals/venues really feel about this (I suspect that the twitter/news articles talking about such-and-such a band's tickets going for £ hundreds acts as good publicity for them, especially if they can simultaneously say "This is abhorrent.!!!").

Whatever approach is used to reduce tickets being sold on for profit, I reckon there needs to be means in place for tickets to be resold (or returned) at face value, now that festivals are being sold so far in advance of the actual dates.

In terms of Government involvement, I reckon their time would be much better off spent dealing with that other buy-to-make-profit-on-rather-than-use thing; namely housing.

Even if I go with your latest flimsy argument, he's still selling the punter down the river and being morally dishonest.

No, that's merely your perception of it. Given that your perception of capitalist principles are wrong at every level it's not really so surprising I guess.

You have that perception (along with everything else) because you do not understand the operation of that particular marketplace.

Every time I buy my burger this year I'll call them scum, cos according to your logic that's what they are.

No wonder you post as you do, you thinking I've been saying the exact opposite to everything I have said rather gives it away.

When you have to resort to posting lies, is that your way of admitting that you know you have no valid argument?

Haha, enjoy Glastonbury even if you aren't camping anywhere near me. Enjoy paying £6.50 for a burger that cost about £2 to make. BUT ITS OK, ITS GLASTONBURY, THE MAGICAL LOVELY LIFE CHANGING GLASTONBURY. People rip you off, that's the world. If I'm scum because I'm telling you that's the way the world works then you need a reality check, Glastonbury is one of the worst places I've been for it.

Faceless people calling you scum when they know virtually nothing about you never gets old does it?

Look at all the adults belittling and insulting a teenager on an internet forum, well done all. I hope I grow up to do the same.

PMSL ... do you think that expressing an opinion with solid reasons for why is insulting just for the sake of it?

Here's betting you insult rapists and paedos, because you don't like what they stand for.

Se la vie.

Defeat? How old are you?

Hope you're real proud of yourself. You won an internet battle!!!

Buy a pint on me.

You do realise that you've now become everything that you started out complaining about, don't you?

Today's lesson is: not everyone has to agree with you, and they're allowed to state why. :)

Nope, what I have learnt is part of Glastonbury's problem.

Hmmm, do you think that Michael Eavis selling hsi tickets at the price he believes people should pay (rather than for every last pennie he can extract out of people) is a problem for Glastonbury?

It's only a problem for Glastonbury when people with your profiteering ideas climb on board to deny people those tickets at the price that Eavis wants people to pay for them.

Luckily for Glastonbury goers, Eavis didn't roll-over when under attack from the only self-serving. He took them on and beat them.

That's not any problem for Glastonbury, I assure you. Attitudes and ideas like that is precisely why Glastonbury gets so much love from those who get it. :)

What's said is your abuse based on a disagreement of opinion.

Please tell me how the guy ripping you off at Glastonbury is any different from a tout. Two people see that someone is willing to pay more than it's worth, they sell it, customer buys it. Same thing. I hope you'll be calling the vendors across site scum next year.
