There must be a site or forum in existence where a number of people who used to go to Glastonbury congregate and moan about how it isn't as good as it used to be and that is was better before it was regulated, defend the anti-establishment attitudes that apparently used to be prevalent at Glastonbury (especially with regards to police treatment)and generally complain about state interference and right-leaning politics.

I agree.

But I bet each year they still scrutinise the list on the offchance that someone is stupid enough to register who they have wanted to get their hands on for ages, but who lives on the each of society so has no trail leading to them using the more normal methods of detection.

To think this database is used as just an anti tout measure like that UEF person believes is naive in the extreme

so to summarise: Yes, you do believe the database has been viewed by the authorities.

Hardly an outrageous conspiracy theory I'm sure you'll agree.

This is the fairest way to sell tickets. If it means some people have to miss out then so be it. It's a harsh rreality but so be it.

As for the original post, I have no sympathy. If you don't get yourself organised then tough shit. It's hardly like they haven't had time to get organised, it's plain stupidity and/or laziness. Fuck them.

After page 3, I gave up reading.

My question is: Why the hell are you lot sat here complaining about how the festival "isn't what it used to be", yet you're all desperate for tickets?

Can't be that bad if you're all still here, trying for the tickets.

As for the OP, your friend has had long enough to register. If he was determined enough to go, he would've registered in good time. Leaving it till last minute tells me that he probably isn't fussed whether he goes or not. He'll learn from his mistakes and do it in good time next year (if he wants to go).

I'm not desperate and not trying, but am also not surprised or resentful that the festival has changed. Also I don't think many people are actually complaining that the festival isn't what it used to be. Maybe you should read past page 3.

I just have better things to do than read about people complaining about the registration process, the way the festival has changed and is becoming like V festival, and how it's so corporate now.

Of course it's changed, it's being going for over 40 years, if you think it'll be the same as it was back then, you must be deluded.

If you go back and read a post on page 3, you'll realise that V Festival has been mentioned.

And just to please you lot, I did just read the remaining pages. What did I benefit from that? I got to read more arguing over the registration process. Well done, that was entirely pointless and a waste of time. Like I said, if you can sit here complaining about it so much, why are you going?

I saw all of that originally. What I'm pointing out is that you've argued about it for three pages, an entirely pointless endeavour, just like this one is. If you love the festival enough to go and try for tickets every year, then it can't bother you that much. Sure, nobody likes the uncertainty of the ticket buying process but it's just part of the deal of going, you sitting here whinging about it isn't going to do anything to improve that.

You were the one insulting my intelligence, so don't accuse me of insulting you. If you can pick out something that I said that directly insulted you then I apologise. However I originally asked why the hell people sit here and complain and yet they're so desperate to get tickets? My point still stands, no one has answered that. You're still complaining about the ticket process. Nothing is going to be suited to us and our individual needs perfectly, however it suits the majority and makes the system work in such a way that touts are eliminated. A necessary evil as people keep saying, but why is that evil? Is it really that much of a chore and a worry to put your address and name in to a website? You do it on numerous other websites, ebay, amazon, ticketmaster, etc. All other websites that require payment and then a billing and despatch address. If someone doesn't have a computer or the ability to buy the tickets due to lack of knowledge, there's plenty of public places with access to computers, I'm sure they have friends or family with computers, and if you're incapable of typing in some details then I'm sure someone will be willing to help you. Once you've done it once, you wont need to be taught again. Not to mention that if you have access to a mobile or a landline you still stand a chance by phoning Seetickets. And as for the lack of fixed address, it's already been proven in this topic that you don't need one. It may not be easy but you don't actually need one. And if you did, I'm sure you know someone who wont mind you putting their address down.
