DONT ignore it, mate of mine did that and had court bailiffs knocking at the door demanding £2000 there and then or goods to the value of. Worth doing some research to see if anyone has managed to get out of paying, though have to say this is standard practice on most if not all motorway services

Agree it's a complete rip off. Especially when there are signs lit up on the motorway saying "Tiredness Kills - Take a break", so you stop in the only place you can and get hit with a £100 fine for being too tired.

Can you pay to park for longer than 2 hours? Think I've seen a sign?

Tiredness does kill, that doesn't however mean you can park your car up where you like with impunity! You're meant to either rest for less than 2 hours or use another site, or better yet plan your journey so you're not quite as knackered when you undertake it.

Or in other words, take some personal responsibility.

As others have said DO NOT PAY IT!!!!! It is not legally enforceable in anyway.

Yes it was your vehicle that was parked there and they have illegally accessed DVLA database to do this!!!! But can they prove you we're driving it???.

Also they will send various letters threatening you with solicitors court action debt collectors etc and will even ask for you to call them to discuss payment terms but if you ignore it they will eventually give up!!!!!

Service stations screw you over on everything they possibly can. They know the have a captive audience. Petrol is at least 12p per litre more than the average. The food is exhorbitant, the drinks in the newsagent bit, the books, the take away food. All of it way over the odds and now £100 to have the audacity to park up for more than the alloted time?

Service stations are the highwaymen of the modern age. Robbing bastards the lot of them.

To say it's not reasonable to pull in for a kip for the safety of yourself and others if you're tired and have to limit that to two hours is ridiculous and completely lacking in common sense. Those arguing on the side of this fine are either being deliberately facetious for the sake of a reaction or are simply too stupid to understand.

I've always found that even if you don't agree with tedious little rules that its best to go along with it as makes for a much smoother life
