Yes, i know people say.. the invite people in as you have something to hide, but all im going to have in my tent are clothes, sleeping bag etc but what im most worried about is my drink! taking 4 crates.. any ideas how to keep safe? cheers.

there is no practical way to keep it safe (unless Reading/Leeds offers lock-ups as Glastonbury does where it can be kept safe?).

Padlocking your tent will not keep it safer than not padlocking your tent - but it would mean that you'd also have a ruined tent (because it'll get slashed) as well as having lost your beer if some scumbag comes round on the rob.

The number one festival rule applies to beer no less than it does anything else: don't take anything you cannot afford to lose.

The scumbags are more than likely going to be stealing money more than anything else they couldn't give a crap about beer. The best thing to do is leave it in your tent, if you get too pissed and leave it outside some opportunistic people will help themselves to a can whilst passing by.

Yeah it's pretty unlikely that thieves will steal beers. There isn't much resale value in a crate of beer.

If you're really quite worried about it though, empty the crates out into your tent and have a stack of cans or something. Prospective thieves wouldn't stick around picking up 80 cans one by one.

What I did at glastonbury was kept all my beer in a box, put my tent bag over it so it looked like a box of tent supplies.

it's not i cant aford the crates, its just i wouldn't want to, and wouldn't pay there £24 for 15 cans at the festival shop!! but emptying all the cans is an idea!!

Has anyone tried that new strongbow? The "Dark Fruit" one, it's on at 20 cans for £15 in Tesco at the moment, but I don't want to get it incase it's absolutely disgusting.

I like the strongbow dark fruits, it's definitely one of those far too easy to drink ciders though.

On the subject of padlocks, I padlocked my tent when I first went to festivals but certainly wouldn't bother these days. Just entices people towards your tent thinking there's stuff worth nicking

Yeah just make sure to keep your beer deep in your tent so it isn't visible, then it's unlikely anyone will bother to take it. And don't take any valuables at all, if you have your phone, keys, wallet etc. just put them in the bottom of your sleeping bag, buried in some clothes or something.

My mate last year took his iPad and he wouldn't have heard the end of it if he'd had it stolen, absolutely stupid thing to do

It's worth paying for a locker for the weekend if you need to keep stuff safe. If I can avoid it I don't even take keys to festivals now. Just the basics, phone, cash, clothes and beer

All I do is drink fruit ciders (rekorderlig, bulmers, kopparberg etc) and they are taste pretty much the same and i love them. The strongbow attempt however is below par, it's drinkable but i'd never choose it over any other mixed fruit ciders
