Folk-rock band Mumford and Sons have postponed three US gigs after bassist Ted Dwane was taken to hospital with a blood clot on his brain.

A statement from the band said the musician had been "feeling unwell for a few days" and was receiving emergency treatment in hospital.

It said: "The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."

The four-piece band shot to fame with their debut album, Sigh No More, which was shortlisted for the 2010 Mercury Prize. It's follow-up, Babel, went to number one in the UK and the US.

They said the shows would be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Maybe it would but I have just done a 13 hr frontline ambulance shift and saw this mentioned on twitter from the Guardian newspaper as i have not had chance to be on here today and thought people might not know! I personally cant stand them and wont be seeing them but I know some people who do like them!

On nights tomorrow but counting down the 4 shifts left to work!!! i will be working 2 shifts at the festival as well for my ticket. Had 2 ciders already number 3 wont be far away!!! Cheers mate

Heard a rumour that the stone roses are taking their place and the mumfords have been guarateed a headline slot for next year! Not from a particularly reliable source, but it would make sense!

Yeah to be fair to the OP I never read that Mumfords thread either - only found out because it was mentioned in the Nick Cave thread.
