Tangerine Fields - experiences ?

Hey all - has anyone had any experience of TF in the last few years ? whats the vibe like? Totally understand its not the same as being on the festival site, but is it chilled, quick and easy to get in and out of the festival (i accept the queues at the Ped. Gate will dictate this) , is there much of a community spirit ?

How far is their car park from their camp ?

I emailed them this afternoon to see what time we could get into the car park, and they said "when the blue gate opens, check the Glastonbury FAQ", which was pretty meaningless all in all ! Aiming to arrive at 7am so we can be in the tent, dump our gear and get into the site and get on it.

anyone know what the deal is - if we turn up at 6am, will we be turned round ?

Any advice gladly received.

I'm staying there too, for the first time. Their check in tent is open from 8am, so i'd assume thats when we can get in their car park too.

They say the car park is in an adjacent field, looking at aerial shots of previous festivals....i'd say no more than 250m away.

I'd also be interested in hearing others past experiences.

Yeah, I'm there this year for the first time. Camped in the old MyHab village the last 2 years. Big group of us staying there, most of us coming on the train from London.

From what I've read its open at 8am.

Going from past experience of the MyHab village it was really nice and chilled, everyone was really nice and there was good fun up there.

I stayed in the Tangerine fields for the last two years at Bestival, okay not Glasto, but the same dynamics with TF running the show, I have great experiences staying in TF area, okay with the tents being setup you are a little distance from your neighbours, but if you make the effort to meet and speak to your neighbours it a nice vibe, I am met a group of people at TF at bestival, who funnily will be catching up with at Glasto.. its the not the same as being amognst, but it will not de value your experience I can assure you. whenever the TF tent is open will be when you can get in.. I am in TF this year with 6 lads if you see us say hi :-)

I stayed in Yurtel (never again) last year which was right next to the TF field and shared a reception (of sorts).

There was a bar and a food place, pizza and breakfast stuff. The TF field was nice, tents all in rows, people seemed to be very happy. There were lots of queues for showers etc, as to be expected, the place had a bit of a vibe, but most people left in the morning and you didn't come back til late. To sleep. It wasn't hectic.

It did feel removed from the site and whilst you weren't far, as you left, you were away from it all. I was this a plus, some did not.

The security were very nice, I felt safe and secure.

Stayed there for the past 2 Glastonbury's and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Its just outside the main entrance so no hassle getting in and out (apart from being constantly searched each time!) and has decent toilets and showers. Also has a food place doing decent food and cocktails etc. It seems chilled because you tend to have your own space but there's still plenty going on around the site.

We are staying there too - perhaps we should have an efests meet at TF ha ha

I do know the car parking tickets will direct you to the blue vehicle gate which is near the TF site.

They are being sent out next week by 1st class signed for by the way

I normally arrive Tuesday night at glasto but as TF say gates do not open until 8am I am going to mosey on down for around that time from Portsmouth. There's no rush as it is all setup for you and if you have a car parking pass I am assuming you will definitey get in their carparks

We stayed in the TG field in 2011, albeit in the Yurtel part at the top of the field. I really liked it and given that it is just on the edge of the festival site it didn't feel out of it really and the view was fab!

The car park is in the field next door and as short a walk as you could reasonably hope for, but does depend where in the three TG fields your tent is.

The cafe/bar/restaurant was supposedly run by Yurtel in 2011, who have now gone up market and are in a field further away, so not sure what it will be like this year, but when Yurtel was running it it was ok.

bag and pocket searches, as i recall. if there's something in your bag, they'll find it. i took my comestibles in on my person and had no problems. this year however i'm planning on using the lock ups for some things to minimise risk.

regarding TF more generally, they provide exactly what they say will, and i'll be back for a 2nd time this year.

Why hello Dan ;)

A question for all of you TF vets... Are there any lockups within TF, or are all lockups within the festival grounds themselves. Being an international traveller, I'll have a few items on hand that I'd prefer be locked up rather than risk them growing legs and walking off :)

We used tf last Glasto and arrived in the car park at about 6am. Had a little snooze then walked all of the 100 yards to get in at 8. We found the facilities excellent, with a chilled out vibe around the camp. As mentioned the showers can get quite busy but it just depends on what time you use them. Home made pizza,s in the clay oven are ace in the bar area and they had hammocks set up etc. But for us going in our camper this year we would use them again

    • I did get a little amusement at the idea that Infantino was upset Trump stood him up for the US opener last night given how hard he's been trying to get in his good books.   Tbf, I thought the Canadian roar at their equaliser was decent volume. Or maybe I just had my phone at a higher volume for it when I watched the highlights this morning.
    • Wonder if they’d ever headline Glasto again.  Would be very different a 2nd time around I reckon.
    • My mate is there now. She enjoyed them a lot but had never seen them before. Apparently there was an injury in the crowd near the end so took about 10 or so minutes to sort out. Hope the person is alright.    Feeder apparently drew a ridiculously huge crowd on the third stage.
    • This was never a surprise.   I'm hoping USA meet and lose to Iran in round of 16, just to really wind up Trump.
    • Watched this this morning -  absolute brilliance -  live show is peaking
