Hi looking at the website it says free 4g wifi at EE charging points. Can you use this with 3G iPhones. My daughter is abroad on her own ( with a friend) and I know she would like to FaceTime if possible. Is there anywhere else we can do this if not we will have to try to text or phone

It would be ridiculous if they only cater to 4G phones. Am I wrong in assuming most people are still on the 3G network, or are we way behind in Canada? I only got my phone a year ago so surely I'm not the only one with a 3G phone.

Hi.

WiFi will cover all devices (including iPads). Cellular signal doesn't matter.

EE customers with 4G devices will be to pick up a 4G signal on site from EE. If you have a 4G device from outside the UK, your device is unlikely to work due to different frequencies used. Plus, there are no 4G roaming agreements in place anyway. So you would have to make do with a 3G signal and use the free WiFi at the charge tent.

For clarity the 4G is the delivery method to the site [cables would be impractical] from there the connection will go to a WiFi router like you have at home only beefier. You will only be able to connect to the ,net within the proximity of the EE WiFi hotspot.

You say cables would be impractical but this is not true there are cables allready installed all over the site which stay there all year round and there is also fibre optic installed onsite.

I have been wkrking onsite for 2 weeks now and will be here for a while more yet putting phone and wifi lines in for the festival and the bbc amongst others.

Do you know this for a fact? I was hoping to use my iPhone (purchased in Canada) with a UK mobile sims card. I was told by an Apple Genius Tech that my phone will work in the UK.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
