Tipi's allowed?

Should be fine. It's just a big tent, after all. As long as you can carry it in (AND OUT AGAIN!) you'll be fine. You'll probably want to aim for one of the camping fields to the west of the site like Dairy, Pylon, or Bushy, otherwise you'll struggle to find a space for any large tent.

I suppose it depends on what type of Tipi. There's some that are basically a regular tent, but Tipi shaped. Saw a good few people with them the last time, if it's a proper Tipi like the ones in the Tipi field, I would be less sure. I think you can bring your own proper Tipi and camp in the Tipi field though, beware though, they weigh an absolute ton. The poles are flippin' huge and the canvas is thick and heavy!

There probably won't be any objections to you putting up a Tipi, but you may struggle to find space, especially in the more popular fields, or if you arrive after about lunchtime wednesday.

I'd strongly suggest you see it in person before you spend any money. Going by Public Transport could be very problematic - check how small / light it is when folded down. I think you might be massively underestimating how awkward it'll be firstly to get to the festival, then to carry across site.

If it's a real Tipi, you also need to be confident that you can put it up correctly. My understanding is that there's a fair bit of skill involved to put a Tipi up properly, far more than you'd need for any regular tent.
