Yeah pretty much, might have been in this thread actually in reaction to the Sun's story on Glasto being another washout. It was largely debunked because they based the story on the Jetstream coming in south for the end of this month, but it often moves around it's just when it sticks it becomes a problem.

FYI, I know nothing on weather patterns, I just know enough lingo to repeat and interpet what I've read. All of which could be incorrect

Don't freak out we've all seen them be wrong with a week to go let alone a month and more. That report is rather over-simplistic, the jetstream isn't a neat band like that for starters. When you look at the charts it's all squiggly and moves around LOADS all the time, so what he's suggesting is far from nailed on - this is just him putting his bet in much like the various folk who cried heatwave/washout last summer.

The actual long range outputs have been swinging one way then the other but very rarely have they shown massive ugly 2012 rainfall, it's about half slightly above average half slightly to very much below average rainfall and the average for June is very low.

It's a very long video of a guy shouting "Heads!"

[etc what year is it?]

UK Outlook for Sunday 2 Jun 2013 to Sunday 16 Jun 2013:

The broadly unsettled conditions at first show signs of slowly giving way to more settled conditions through the first half of June. There will still be some rain and showers at times, with much of the UK likely to see around average rainfall amounts for the time of year, however there will probably be a good deal of dry and bright weather as well, particularly at first in the northwest. Temperatures are most likely to remain on the cool side of average across the UK, although the chance of warm weather increases for a time, particularly in the north and west. Given the time of year, with any prolonged sunshine it will feel pleasantly warm, especially away from the coasts.

Has there been any forecasts that predict a repeat of last year? 2011 was quite wet but before that we had 3 good years so its not as if a washout has been the norm in recent years

UK Outlook for Monday 3 Jun 2013 to Monday 17 Jun 2013:

There are signals that conditions should begin to settle down into June, becoming drier than normal for many areas, especially across the north and west with the influence of high pressure extending from the Azores. Temperatures should also return to normal for early June, so feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine, but currently no signal for heatwave conditions, and feeling cooler around coastal areas where sea breezes develop. Variable amounts of cloud are likely around the country at times, but also interspersed with sunnier conditions. Some showers are still possible through the period, especially in the south and east.

Most recent metoffice update for June, looks very promising at the moment!
