Ska Reggae and Prog ......

Ok - strange mix but I love all 3 genres, and there's very little on the line-up that fits into these 3 categories.

Yes, Tame Impala a bit new-prog - and will try to catch them - liking Elephant.

And I note there is a Reggae Roast.

But apart from that - can anyone spot anything similar ?

Was hoping for Easy Star All Stars, Neville Staples, The Beat, Selector, Pauline Black, and maybe something along the lines of Curved Air or Focus, or a Floyd tribute eg. Pink Fraud !

There are likely to be some smaller prog* bands playing, but finding them may well be more luck than planning. I stumbled on a retro-prog band playing the little bandstand outside Croissant Neuf last time - they did suck, but they were prog.

In '03 I found a couple of really interesting bands: Riven and Elephant Talk; the first by chance, the second because they were named after a King Crimson track and so had to be worth a punt.

If anybody would be good enough to point out the Ska and Reggae on the line-up I will be grateful - and head in the other direction; even if I did thoroughly enjoy the Ska-Punk bands at last year's Bearded Theory :)

* By "prog" I don't necessarily mean they are progressive, just the opposite in many cases.

The Dub Pistols are playing on Friday, seen them a few times and always enjoy them. Neil has Black Roots down as a strong rumour, really hope they are there. I saw them a couple of times back in the 80's through a cloud of smoke and hope that they are still as good as I think I remember.

I've seen Prince Fatty mentioned but don't know if it's been confirmed anywhere yet, if he is on, hopefully Hollie Cook and Horseman will be with him. And of course Dave Rodigan is on in Silver Hayes.

There will be other stuff like the Beat playing somewhere I'd have thought and I'm still holding out for the Skints to be announced.

Yep we need reggae and lots of it! I like the sound of the gully...

"It's been a few years since we had a reggae tent in the field, so we are creating a new area called Gully ('gully' is Jamaican slang word referring to the areas around the storm runoff drains in Kingston, Jamaica). Gully will have a large open-air stage and a sound system street area called The Blues with DJs, MCs and sound systems. This dual area will have a capacity of around 8,000 people and will feature live acts playing roots, dancehall, reggae, ska and dub, as well as African music. It will be an impressive sight with purpose built sets, both stalls given a downtown West Indian feeling."
