Scones,cream or jam first?

Been an on going debate down my local,there are two camps obviously,I am of the jam first and cream on top brigade so whats your view,my brother is in the cream first camp and the family feud is escalating,its even spread to my extended family and there local oop north!

You always have the jam on top,the red contrasting with the white of the cream makes it look far more inviting and tasty.That's cooking 101 with the belief that you taste through the eyes first.Never have I seen a top chef or even just when I've seen scones served anywhere have I witnessed the cream being placed on top.

I can't believe anybody would put the jam on top! you need a nice sturdy base to spread the jam on then lashings of cream. As thearg says above surely the jam slides off the cream?
