I would prefer this year to be in the mid 20's with a touch of cloud and light breeze, with no rain, just for my poor Brother , who is carrying a bit of timber and struggled through the heat of 2010, and indeed the mud of 2011 :)

Ah yeah, you need to be careful. Bring the sunblock and lash it on frequently and you'll be fine.

All I remember is my legs being completely knackered by the sunday last year from standing, and pulling feet out of the sticky mud, but the year before I was nowhere near as wrecked.

Can't beat sitting down on the grass on the hill watching over the festival with the sun beating down. Its just not the same if its cloudy or muddy.

BUMP!!

I've got a horrible feeling that there's some overconfidence out there people.

This topic needs to stay at least page 1 until the Festival to give us a reasonable chance.

Otherwise we're doooomed I tell ye.....

I have just bought new wellies - I am seriously hoping they stay in the car! A repeat of 2010 would be fantastic. Too hot?! P'ah! Give me too hot anyday over being exhausted and having to trail through mud everywhere

As an aside, if anyone is looking for festival type stuff you could do worse than to try the efests shop - Ordered yesterday afternoon, delivered this morning. Can't ask for better really!

I've seen some long term trend forecasting for the middle part of the year. Wet May and June, beautiful July and August are what models are predicting. Obviously you could get any type of weather on any given day. But these long term forecasts are usually pretty good for getting an an average trend.

I saw that ArcTanGent have had a big increase in ticket sales today because of the good weather. Kind of got me thinking about the festival weather/underfoot conditions.

Took a walk down to the site this afternoon (I'll upload a pic if anyone is interested...) and the ground is actually really dry right now, bring your mallets for the tent pegs guys!

Is there any major significance on the date of GF,I ask this as I wonder if ME has ever considered moving the festival to say August, shock horror I hear some of you say,but June has always been a bit iffy as Glasto and Wimbledon show us but with our weather system getting worse over the years and ie all the floods across the country, perhaps its worth considering as May/June seems to be turning into our monsoon season.

ps.I will say I have no basis and haven't looked up weather patterns in Somerset to back any of this up!

I think Mr Eavis posted pictures of the site in August one year on the GF site, can't remember the year, but it was very muddy and had been raining a lot so it doesn't really make much difference if its June or August I dont think. I would like to believe that it would help tho ;)

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
