Forgive me but what is Shangri-La?

Shangri-La is the after-hours epicentre of the festival – a fantastical wonderland designed and built by over 1,500 crew and artists.

Exclusive to Glastonbury Festival and unique within festival culture, Shangri-la is a bizarre and brilliant film-set world that is themed around a central narrative, a story that evolves each year.

Together with the designers, artists, crew and performers, the audience become inhabitants of this ethereal world. Famed for its twisting alleys, unpredictable nano-venues, eccentric humour and epic raves, there is certainly a lot to explore. A myriad of venues, artworks and installations lie within Shangri-la, the only question is whether you will find them all.

I really don't know how to describe the Shangri-La to those who haven't been. I've tried so hard since I got back in 2011 but it's just impossible.

Disappointing to hear that all the 'Bladerunner' alleyway sets, The Hub and mini clubs like the Snakepit have been destroyed. I'm sure the Shangri people will come up with something great, but it truly was a magical place to visit...
