Just got me wondering - saw the Brothers ad on tv - are they new? dont recall seeing Brothers adverts before

anyway the question was actually about the rhubarb and custard - has anyone seen it anywhere? Would qutie like to try it!

On that note..Tesco had Brothers festival cider a quid a bottle!! BARGAIN

Still have my doubts about Brothers and reckon it's just smart marketing. Back in the sixties they had Babycham, which was champagne perry marketed as a girly drink. Surely today's product is just the same thing but marketed in bigger cans and pushed to festie goers.

One thing I do wonde r- all these people who drink Brothers Festival cider - 7% or whatever it is - I wonder if the same people would drink K strong strength cider or Special Brew..I expect not? I bet they'd think it's skanky or something - even though it#s the same % as Brothers Festival just a different name and diff reputation?!

A lot of my local ciders are 7%+ Sheppy's, Tricky, etc. Taste a hell of a lot different to Special Brew, Wight Lightening, etc etc!! ;-)

Oh i'm sure they taste different but I mean they're the same % so if you liked special brew/K how is that any worse than drinking Brothers 7% ..surely cant be?!

It wouldn't be any worse in terms of the effect it'll have on you. However you'd probably be able to get more Brothers cider down you because of it's nice taste. Wherease special brew is the devil's own piss.

I mean how people view it like special brew for tramps etc but drinking other stuff of same strength = ok

And in all seriousness, ok, not special brew..but that Gold Label strong lager..I had 4 cans a year or so back and didn't think it was too bad ..i'm not a tramp!!!!!

Strangely enough one of my brothers drinks special brew when he does have a drink (he's not a big drinker) and he's loaded with cash and assets. I think this fact help prevent or at least reduce my thinking that special brew is only for tramps.

The other thing may be cost. It might be cheaper to buy special brew than Brothers ( I actually don't know). Otherwise I'd say the tramps would be drinking Brothers because it actually tastes nice.

ha ha yea brothers may taste nicer..and it may well be cheaper..I've got a feeling 4 pack of special brew is around 8 quid when I last looked in Tesco, not sure if its 7/8% but 4 cans for ~8 quid doesn't seem especially cheap!

I drink festival strength Brothers and also drink K cider, and to be honest I love K. I think it tastes bloody lovely. Not Special Brew though, that tastes like week old, unwashed, welly foot. I couldn't care less about the reputation of a drink. If I like it then I drink it. I take your point though, a lot of people wouldn't drink it because of the bad rep it has.

I'm with you I'd drink either, if I like it..I like it - but I bet there's plenty of people of all ranges up and down the country , who would drink Brothers as its 'cool' but special brew..'what are you homeless' lol

Ah I had 4 cans of Special Brew once when I was in my first year of uni, forced them down me and they truly fucked me over. Tasted nasty and had the hangover from hell, that was only four so can't imagine what 6 or 8 would have done to me back then...

A bit like Guinness from dublin I'm more susceptible to the stuff at Glasto on tap rather than the cans which are gassy. I'm not a fan of the alchopop flavours either. All in all they lost it when they stopped the flagons. I now rather the ciderbus
