With all this talk about acid and mushrooms, I'm interested to hear from users if they ever get flash backs? I've heard stories of people getting terrible flash backs during driving etc. Has anybody actually suffered from these?

I don't either - but i'd also say it can help.

In my experience, people are getting less and less likely to be thinking outside the box, and that's coincided with people taking fewer mind-altering* drugs. Whether the two are related I can't be certain, but I reckon there might be something to this.

(* I'm not classing non-tripping drugs as 'mind-altering', in the same way that few people would class getting drunk as mind altering. If anyone finds that confusing then I'd guess they've not tried tripping to find out what truly mind-altering drugs do).

I'm not trying to encourage anyone to take any drug they're not comfortable taking btw. Each to their own.

I've had people say that they can tell that I used drugs in my past just as a general observation of my personality. I just tell them that as they're a projection of my imagination and that we are all echos of one solitary consciousness then what they say doesn't really mean anything. That usually seals it.

Like windy miller says, I think a lot of people could benefit from a little mind expanding. I know many people who probably wouldn't, too.

and in the middle there seems to be some people who trip and believe it's had a 'mind expanding effect', but there's nothing of any change in them to be seen - at least not of the normal 'hippie' view of the sort of 'mind expanding' that might be expected. They don't appear to have any different perspective on anything afterwards (after the temporary effects of the drug have worn off).

Working from the basis that tripping supposedly causes the brain to be 're-wired', I'd guess that these people have their brains too 'hard wired' to get anything more than a temporary experience from their use of the drug.

but does it re-wire your brain, or does it just open it up to stuff that might normally get 'suppressed' or simply ignored?

Who knows?

The point of my words was simply to say that for some people it does as much 'mind expanding' as anyone gets from having a pint - none at all. It's simply a transient & temporary experience.

Not wanting to sound like an old fart but I'm not too sure about experimenting with drugs at festivals - certainly unless you have good friends around you. You don't know what you're buying and may well get ripped off. If you do want anything take it with you, in which case you'll probably not be experimenting but using what you're used to.

I think acid is a pretty safe bet to get in. I mentioned it earlier but as far as I am aware they dont train dogs to detect it. This is purely anecdotal from a former drugs officer but he claimed that because of the minute quantities needed to trip, and the fact it can be absorbed through the skin, they can't expose a dog to acid to train it. If that is true given the size of it that could explain low hauls at festivals. That or the fact there is not a market for it.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
