This is one thing I'd like to see at festivals over here tbh, its my pet hate and would stop the dicks who put there tent on top of yours so they can have a circle for there massive group of friends. (Tbh, I am jealous as I never go in a big group :P). I don't think you have to go to certain bay, just make sure your only using your bay. (I spose if you had your group you could still have a bit in the middle where the bays connect?).

Anyway only managed to watch Wild Beasts last night before I went to bed and at work today so will miss the rebroadcast :(. But they was awesome!!

As for the tupac stuff, its a bit gimmicky really isn't it? Most news reports are focusing on that, so I think it's detracted from the performance a bit. It seems like it's done for the publicity. (Note, I'd have the same issues with having back Kurt or Jimi Hendrix).

Fine by all means use holograms as part of your stage show (Thinking the dancers the Chemical Bros use in the videos/some of them sort of graphics in holographic form would be awesome), would even be cool to have hooked up with a special guest performing else where live but that I just thought was a bit naff and takes away from the performance.

So what's peoples views upon the tupac hologram?

Tasteless? Inventive? Good use of technology? Adds to the live performance? Makes the performance too per-rehearsed and less live? Would you like to see anyone back from the dead? Nirvana, Beatles? Good for a fest or not? Good for own shows?

Actually agree very much with this post. Not a Wild Beats fan so watched another channel. Thought the Snoop and Tupac thing was great, saw the video on NME, gimmicky yes, publicity yes, but a great thing to think to do and much more effective than I imagined. A completely different idea, I reckon it'd be ace for a festival to think about getting that in the UK next year.

For example, if R&l did end up getting Bloc Party and Biffy Clyro next year, it'd be no means a bad thing to have Dre headline the last night I don't think. What you reckon?

Or you could save a bit of money and get a cardboard cut out. Considering people get pissed when the likes of Eminem, Madonna etc lip sync live to a tape why are people getting exticed over the same thing but not even with a person now?

that is the point. Eminem wasn't lip syncing at V fest last year btw.

because with this, it's actually movement from the person, some crowd interaction, not a cardboard cut out that with a gust of wind might blow over haha.

i agree you can't forget the real person isn't there but I think that if Chem Bro's can do a similar thing as part of there show then why not. he hasn't tried to fool the audience that he was actually there.

What an absolute load of shit, are people so desperate for reunions or seeing thing they haven't before that we've got the stage of beinging someone back to life via hologram? What's next, R&L don't want to pay Blur and Green Day to headline so they'll just put holograms of them up there? Fuck me.

Yes, i have looked at some video's and I think it's hard to debate. I was at V though and he defo wasn't. He is actually a great live act IMO, but maybe Biased as I went kind of knowing I would like it. It was only a day ticket so had to justify the money somehow haha,.

Thing is though, the hologram cost $10million, so they would be more expensive than the artists themselves. Less tempermental though. Haha.

I think the technology is great. Whether it should be used to bring the dead to live is another matter. But thinking about some of the stage shows that could happen with the use of holograms is crazy.

Imagine a Rob Zombie set with holograms. His mechanical dragon at download last year was good, but there could be 300 zombies on stage. Visual displays during sets would just be unbelievable. Bit costly at the minute though. But thinking of the future.

    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
