How much does a band get paid to play on the main/nme/FR stage for say a mid afternoon slot?

There must be a number of bands who are out of pocket when they play festivals due to staff and transport costs etc.

I remember reading that the Darkness got paid £90 to open Glastonbury the year they "made it" which seems very low.

Anybody know actual figures?

I know a band in 2007 got paid £5000 for a slot halfway up the Carling tent.

i said last year that Guns and Roses got paid a million for there appearance at Reading in 2010. some agreed some disagreed after seeing something in a newspaper.

it wouldn't surprise me tho if they did, possible even more.

I don't think the record company get any money for live performances, however I'd imagine that the management company do (or it goes towards overall earnings that they take a cut of).

As someone has already mentioned, that was for a booking the band had taken before they'd hit the big time. They opened T in the Park the same year, and probably didn't get much for that either.

But I'm not entirely sure the amount of right, even if that's the amount that Eavis said. At around the same year I know that very minor bands were being paid £500 for playing in the (as it was then) New Bands Tent.
