It would also make them a lot of money. As much as I like the smiths, I wouldn't be going. Money gigs do nothing for me. Same reason I didn't try get tickets for the stone roses this summer

I would have been tempted by The Stone Roses if it wasn't that I expect them to be horrible live They were never a great live act, their last few shows were truly terrible and Ian Brown as a singer has been getting even worse the last 10 years.

There's going to be a story about there being no truth to the reunion rumours that seem to happen every few months and which nobody believes anyway? Slow news day or what.

Anyway, on the subject of reunions for money I saw the Mondays at Brixton on their first reunion tour and it's still one of the best nights of my life. As long as the band can turn out a performance (so not The Roses) and you don't begrudge what they're doing because it makes them a bunch of hypocrites (so not The Smiths) it can turn out well. We all gotta eat.

Apart from the shit/wrong reforms like Sublime the only thing that piss me off about them is the all the younglings who suddenly become fans despite having not having heard of them 2/3 months ago and making it harder to get tixs and chatting shit about the 1 song they know.

I remember when I saw the Sex Pistols a pair of girls who only went because Sex Pistols are name got all excited as they found out The Cribs were supporting them on the night. It's weird, when they saw the Cribs logo on the stage they started giggling and jumping up and down which was the most movement I saw from them all night.

I don't think there is much of a difference. A band is still a band and a reunion is solely up to the band, for whatever reason they may have.

Yeah but even if it is for the money, I don't see why anyone is loosing out. Fans get to see them again, new generation of fans get to see a band, promoters make a huge load, band get a boost in fans, money and record sales. I honestly don't see the crime in it.

I think it's the hating each other and begrudging the performance that gets to me. That said, I still enjoyed the Pixies.
