As much as I love the cure, about 30 mins of that 2 hours were songs that people who aren't fans of the band would know.

That leaves 1 hour 30 of quite inaccessible music if you're not already a fan.

I'd liken it more to radioheads Leeds set in 09. Great for fans, not too great for people who like a few singles.

Yeah I really enjoyed it, but I'm already a fan and know the songs. Just saying for the most part it's not music you're instantly going to fall in love with hearing it played live for the first time. It's quite low key and introverted. Lovecats was a right shambles though haha

Robert doesnt like lovecats very much and they hardly play it live apparently. i guess they will at festivals when people arent here just to see them, unlike at their own shows!

I, for one, can not wait to see them play :)

Think Neil was saying robert smith doesn't like being in the cure, but LOVES the money he makes being in the band.

I'm not quite saying things as strongly as you've said it there, but I've seen Smith interviewed pretty much saying that he'd rather be having a quiet retired life not taking a band around gigging, but that he has bills to pay, etc. It's the reason why The Cure have been doing very little for very many years.

Why do they (the cure) have a healthy obsession with cats? Its king of getting off putting (i prefer dogs), making it difficult to get into them.

P.s. Im doubting these are gonna have as popular response, as they have on here, when the news goes out to the masses.

I dunno. I think the response might be better that people expect. On the facebook group any comment regarding The Cure always tends to get more 'likes' than Green Day ones. I can imagine there being a very vocal few who acts like tits, but I think the news with be greeted fairly well.

You trolling?

Two songs with the word "cats" in them does not equal an obsession with cats and should not put somebody off a band's entire body of work.

Also, that's their loss if they don't recognise the brilliance of The Cure, they can go and see whatever shit is on the R1/NME at the same time, like many did for Arcade Fire in 2010 and Radiohead in 2009, thus missing 2 of the best sets in recent years at R/L.

No, just bored. Also lovecats/ high ('kitten as a cat/ smitten like that')/ all cats are grey/ Let's go to bed ('look as perfect as cats') - Theres just four, and i think its pretty safe bet they get a mention in more songs. Plus although i think their alright and will probably give them a watch, i think its unfair to claim that people are ignorant if they don't like the cure, or arcade fire, or radiohead. N fair enough, not looked at the facebook, just going off people ive told and their reaction.

Haha maybe its just pets, not come across any dog lyrics, will have to delve deeper. And i may have just mis read the wording, came across that he/she was claiming people were ignorant for not recognising those bands brilliance, fair enough if not. But anyway, id fear the worst for the cure's crowd if they were up against either two door (which is disgusting) or chase n status.
