There are two types of Indie club. The first being the ones you speak of full of arseholes listening to shit chart indie, the second being clubs ran by people who know their stuff and attended by people who want something a bit different. The latter may well not be as popular but I would imagine they are out there.

The problem with indie clubs,so I've found,is that the majority of people attending aren't music afficados they are casual fans so you inevitably have to play well established bands/hits.

But I'm pretty sure its not just Manchester where small music promoters put on the better nights, living in Manchester its nice to escape parker wearing Madchester loving knobs who sing nothing but Oasis songs...

I find Kingston is pretty good for non-chart indie clubs.
