Even if Suarez is innocent and Evra made the whole thing up, he had the chance to be the bigger man and portray himself better than his current status of "racist, cheating thug".

From one angle I agree completely.

But from another it's a bit much to expect someone who is innocent* to accept they've been wrongly found guilty and go with it and all the consequences that come with it. If someone is wrongly convicted then you won't ever hear me saying they should accept that wrong.

(*I'm not saying Suarez is innocent. I'm making a general point).

Suarez believes himself to be innocent (or at least, that's what he says). So I can't condemn him for acting on the basis of him believing himself innocent.

A bigger issue is Suarez lying to everyone at LFC about his handshake intentions - he seems to be a bit of a loose cannon. If he was my player, I'd be shipping him.

The lying is inexcusable. That was undeniably wrong.

But it might be the case that he planned to do it but just couldn't go thru with it when the moment came - which puts a different angle on that, and makes it not lying.

It's difficult to know how I'd respond (if I were in charge) to all that's happened without knowing some of the finer details. But I certainly wouldn't rule out shipping him out.

But no club would do that. They all defend their own when they think the benefit the player brings to the club is greater than his trouble - as fergie has proven himself on numerous occasions. If fergie was Suarez's manager then he would have ultimately played it little different to how Dalglish has done - tho perhaps (but just perhaps) with a little more thought into the PR aspects of things.

Irrelevant though. Are you saying hes dignified because he didn't flip him the bird or something? Ignoring him is the issue. The dignity went out the window then. How he went about it is irrelevant.

Its like saying "oh sure, your honour, I did kill him, but I didn't make him suffer".

yep, it's not umnlike that.

But the amount of evil is very different between shooting someone in the head, and deliberately giving them a torturous death. The consequence is the same, but the amount of evil intent is not. That's what I'm getting at.

And none of that gives Evra an excuse for his own actions. If exlemplary behaviour is expected from Suuarez then the same principle applies with Evra too.

Is that not bad enough?

It's extremely bad, and utterly wrong - as I've stated many times.

But it is not an excuse for Evra's behaviour, which was no less wrong (we can argue over how 'bad' each action might have been, but not over the wrongness)

Rio has been getting a lot of stick from Chelski fans, his family have too and his brother has gotten bullets sent to him in the post. Racism in football it does have something to do with Rio at the moment.

I accept that. But if it were to be made a club issue and not a player/player issue, then it should be that.

But it's not. It'#s been kept as much as possible as a player/player issue. If Liverpool are wrong in not having given Suarez relevant 'racism training' then Utd are similarly wrong in not issuing instructions to their players over this issue.

If Rooney is able to keep a clear head about it then there's no excuse for Rio.

I love the fact that Fergie makes "bollocks statements" yet Daglish has only "made some huge errors too".

Daglish has talked more bollocks than anyone. Especially after Suarez hung him out to dry.

Dalglish was misled by Suarez, which caused him to make very wrong statements.

(just wrong statements - the manner of those statements is another thing).

Fergie was not misled. What's his excuse for defending the undefendable from Evra? ;)

What fergie got to do was make Dalglish's words seem better, just as Evra's actions make Suarez's seem better. They both clearly want to screw Suarez - and they'd have been much closer to achieving that if they'd not acted twats.

Most on here probably not old enough to remember that cantonas kung fu kick did more for anti racism towards players than any fa initiative.

Amount of black and foreign players coming out in support of cantona and the shit the players had to suffer was alot, although in them days there wasnt forums were there.

Man utd and the fa both agreed to ban cantona for 4 months, it was only when the fa back tracked on this that eric decided to quit and only fergie making a trip to france saved our skins.

Yeah true. As was Evra's celebration. Suarez's behaviour was premeditated.

you're having a laugh.

Or do you really think it was just a coincidence that Evra ran in front of Suarez as he did at the end?

The ref saw it for what it was, an attempt to provoke a further incident. And Suarez managed what Evra couldn't there, or at the start, or at half time, of being the bigger man.

Just one of those three incidents wopuld have provoked no comment from me. The fact of all three shows Evra as taking the piss out of football - and taken the piss out of fergie much the same as Suarez has with Dalglish.

PMSL :lol::lol: - I see you don't remember it either.

The FA agreed with Utd giving him a 4 month ban while they made their own considerations over any punishment.

At no point did they say "it will only be the 4 months". There was no backtracking.

Amazing looks like he will have won 4 (the portugese league probably gets in just) of the top 10 leagues in the world and champions league titles with 2 teams without record of success in the champions league. He defintely must be considered amongst the all time greats, if he can win a world cup one day, I would probably put him top!

I disagree, he isnt really in an era where managers stay at a club for that long. I would personally put him ahead of fergie because he has shown he can have success in different footballing cultures. Also in terms of champions league they are at 2-2 and Fergie has had far more attempts.

Also add into the mix that United fans haven't experience real failures and loss of direction in a massive amount of time. My united supporting friends already piss and moan and slag off Alex when United lose or are losing games... Was not long ago Alex was booed from the stands...

They have been spoilt for a long time and they come across that way as well... Can't see them being really behind the next guy in... Unless there is immediate delivery...

The pre perm fans where not very patient either though...

Ferguson was getting stick until he managed to pick up the 90 FA Cup, without that he could of well been sacked (widely accepted)... Atkinson was never popular... and United constantly changed manager ever since Busby...

So not convinced on that either...
